I agree that Saleh was a bad coach. My only point was that when he was coach at least the defense was respectable. I think that the Athletic article exposed him as a bit of a fraud as a leader.I feel like you're all digging too deep into Saleh. He had 3 full seasons prior to this year. 4-14, 7-10 and 7-10 for a combined 18-34. He started out this season 2-3 and his last 2 games were a loss to Denver and Bo Nix who had 60 yds passing for the game...then the debacle in London vs Sam Darnold. He was 20-37 (.351) at that point.
Antonio Pierce was fired after 26 games (9-17 / .346). Mayo fired after 1 season with a 4-13 (.235) record. Doug Pederson was fired after 3 seasons with a 22-29 (.431) record.
He stunk, had the injury excuse that afforded him this year and he fell on his face.
He had more than the injury excuse…he also had the Zach WIlson excuse. And to compound that issue, Douglas didn’t get him a backup qb for Wilson.
As in most things…it isn’t one thing. While I think Saleh was a bad coach…I also think Douglas did him no favors by drafting Wilson and not fiixing the O line..at least until this year.
I am glad Saleh and Douglas are gone. I am glad to hear Parcell‘s comments about Glenn…which makes me optimistic. As always…it’s all about how they figure out the QB position.
