I feel like you're all digging too deep into Saleh. He had 3 full seasons prior to this year. 4-14, 7-10 and 7-10 for a combined 18-34. He started out this season 2-3 and his last 2 games were a loss to Denver and Bo Nix who had 60 yds passing for the game...then the debacle in London vs Sam Darnold. He was 20-37 (.351) at that point.

Antonio Pierce was fired after 26 games (9-17 / .346). Mayo fired after 1 season with a 4-13 (.235) record. Doug Pederson was fired after 3 seasons with a 22-29 (.431) record.

He stunk, had the injury excuse that afforded him this year and he fell on his face.

I agree that Saleh was a bad coach. My only point was that when he was coach at least the defense was respectable. I think that the Athletic article exposed him as a bit of a fraud as a leader.

He had more than the injury excuse…he also had the Zach WIlson excuse. And to compound that issue, Douglas didn’t get him a backup qb for Wilson.

As in most things…it isn’t one thing. While I think Saleh was a bad coach…I also think Douglas did him no favors by drafting Wilson and not fiixing the O line..at least until this year.

I am glad Saleh and Douglas are gone. I am glad to hear Parcell‘s comments about Glenn…which makes me optimistic. As always…it’s all about how they figure out the QB position.

I guess it’s possible..but I think it’s more likely that Woody got very upset that the Jets lost a bad game in the UK in front of his amassador friends to Sam Darnold. Woody was not happy with Saleh going into the year (remember he didn’t hire Saleh…Chris Johnson did). Woody didn’t like the Athletic article after the 2023 season calling out Saleh as a paranoid leader.Besides…Hackett got demoted anyway after Saleh was fired. If Rodgers had such great influence…it didn’t last long.

I think it was all Woody…but Rodgers may have thown the match on the kindling.
Hackett got demoted, but he was still in the building, drawing a paycheck. It was one or the other and Rodgers' had a history with Hackett, who was basically hired to attract Rodgers.

Joe Douglas did everything in his power to make Rodgers happy, and in doing so made Rodgers the de facto GM. Otherwise, why waste capital on Devonte Adams after basically throwing away the season by firing the coach?

I agree with all of that….but it still doesn’t mean that Rodgers pushed for Saleh to be fired. I actually think that Rodgers realized at that time that firing Saleh would not be helpful. If he wanted Saleh fired he would have pushed for it to happen before the season not 5 games into the season.

Saleh was fired because Woody got fed up with the Jets being the laughing stock of the league. His firing was an impulsive act…and ultimately hurt the team more than it helped. Just like pretty much every other move Woody has made.

Well..they have their GM…I dont know much about him…other than he was assistant GM when the broncos traded for Russell Wilson….which was awful.

Young guy..no GM experience. It seems odd they would hire two first time people. And they don’t have a history together. Now they need to decide on Rodgers.

I don’t know why but I finally started watching Enigma on Netflix. Part of me will always think Rodgers was the guy to lead us out of this mess.

I have avoided Enigma so far…it’s a perfect name for a show about Rodgers. So what do you think? Is it worth the watch? Does it change how you feel about Rodgers?

You have been calling him a fraud…do you still think so?

It's torture.

1) Goes into his HS/College development. He was small in HS (5'10" and skinny) and got no looks. Went to Juco, then to Cal. Then, he thought he'd go no lower than #5 in the draft and he fell to #24 and immediately behind Favre who was a jerk to him.

2) Gives more backstage type view into that opening night and watching him march out on 9/11 with the flag. Gutwrenching.

3) Shows him giving speeches to the team 2-3 weeks after his surgery on being a team, not giving up, etc.

I don't want him any more....but I am going to go to my grave thinking IF he didn't get hurt, things could have been as we hoped with him. But it didn't. It's in shambles. The shine is off him. Ugh. Between that doc and the Dynasty Pats one on Apple it's a shock in not in the garage with the door closed and ending running.

Thanks for the summary.

You may be right about what could have been. The issue is...he was 40... the idea of him being injured is more likely than not.

I don't know where you live, but the good thing about living in Vegas is no Patriot fans...lol.
