The Official 2023 Mets Thread

Feb 15th and Jake is already shelved for tightness in his side. So glad I don’t have to live through that stress every inning that “this will be the inning he gets hurt”.

Yeah I had the same reaction to the deGrom news. The highs were high but the lows were low, good riddance I hate to admit.

Ready to get this show on the road!

And 8893 isn’t here to whine about his crush on Jake every time he gets shelved. J/K. I miss 8893.

Diaz just got hurt celebrating win over DR :(

That’s so Mets. I’m sick to my stomach. Untouchable last season. Signs long contract. Blows out his right knee celebrating some dumb win in a fake tournament. Unbelievable.

.-.
Lineup looks like a dud thus far, basically the same team coming back.. Guys will get going, but this Verlander injury on top of the Diaz mess is., not great.

No pop in the lineup outside Pete and Lindor. I wonder when we will see Baty, Mauricio and Vientos.

Curious about Verlander and Senga. If they’re a legit 2-3 I feel much better.

I’m hopeful Robertson can really step up and be an above average closer. Part of me thinks Diaz will be back in Sept.

Well Mr. Deepster. You yelled at me saying I knew not what I said about Alvarez. That he was not ready. You said he was and you could not take the time to explain how great he is. Well, he aint. He is just another tubby Los Mets underachiever.

Where did I say Alvarez was ready? I haven’t thought that for a second since seeing him live at the Yard Goats.

deGrom exits in the 4th inning with a sore wrist....and a no hitter going.

What are the odds he's on the shelf til end of June?

For having the highest payroll in the game, I'm pretty friggin tired of watching a rotation of Megill, Senga, Peterson, Joey Lucchesi and Jose Butto.

May 12th.
18-20 and in 4th place. 7.5 games behind Atlanta.
3-7 in their last 10 against the Tigers, Rockies and Reds. Lost 5 series in a row.
Senga leading the staff with a 4-2 record and a 4.14 ERA.
Max with a 5.56 ERA. Peterson and Megill at 7.66 and 4.33 ERA, respectively.

Positives:
It's May 12th.
They're still only 1 game out of a wild card.
Verlander has looked great the last two times out. You hope Max figures it out.

What do we think, Mets fans?

So you were saying?

Don't look now, but the Mets have the 4th best record in the NL at 30-27, behind Arizona and the Dodgers at 34-27 and the Braves at 33-23.

But disappointed with Max whining about the pitch clock. He declared he had learned to use it to his advantage in the spring.

Just saw this. Mets were clearly concerned with Jake’s long term health and passed on him.

They also drafted and let Kumar Rocker go.

Texas grabbed both and they’re both out with Tommy John.

Very happy with the Justin Verlander and Kevin Parada for deGrom and Rocker trade off

Reminds me of when the Mets let Scott Kazmir go because of arm concerns.....LOL

So this thread just fell 3/4ths down the page under the "Yard Goats vs Bananas" thread after a dominant Scherzer win against the Astros.

Are we done on this season here?

Yeah pretty much. I'm still watching most nights but at this point I'm just hoping to sell off all the non-core pieces at the deadline (Alonso/Nimmo/Lindor/McNeil and the rookies).

What an outright dumpster fire. I have tickets to Friday's game and I am legitimately hoping for a rainout. I can just imagine sitting there in the rain while Conforto and JD Davis go a combined 6 for 8 with 2 HR's and 7 RBI against Meatball Carrasco.
