OT: - The Kentucky Derby | The Boneyard

OT: The Kentucky Derby

I don't ever want to hear Renegade again, so have to go against the favorite.

I'll go:
1) The Puma
2) Chief Wallabee
3) Renegade

.-.
It’s in a terrible post position. And Irad Ortiz has a terrible Derby record so it doesn’t look good.
Yes, the #1 post position has not won since 1986 when Ferdinand won. Typically a horse needs to have early speed to win from #1 and Renegade is a closer instead. My pick is Further Ado from #18 post position at 6-1. I believe it was 7-1 yesterday.

Renegade has a hoof issue that they've been dealing with for a while.

He's not 100 percent in this race.

The inside post is not nearly the impediment it was before the new starting gate. All of the horses breaking there have had good trips save perhaps one, Dornoch, who managed to find his own trouble - they're not having to break on fire to clear the rail anymore.

It's gotta be the worst Derby field in memory and the scratches have not helped. Eventually, the Japanese, who are winning everything everywhere, are gonna win a Derby, so I'll wager it's today - Danon Bourbon. His workouts have not been amazing, but I am going to convince myself that's just a difference in training styles.

Based on workouts, Chief Wallabe looks terrific.

I'll also have a long shot bet on Great White because he's a gigantic gray horse named Great White.

The Ortiz brothers won 9 races yesterday. I look for them to win at least 4 races today, even though Irad is on the 1 in the Derby.
I'll take Irad all day.
