But still playing under Geno, no?Bruin: I will stand corrected if I am wrong....but that tour was composed of exhibition games. Not official FIBA sponsored competition. If a minor leaguer for the Red Sox plays in a spring training game in Ft. Myers but never during the regular season, he never played for the Red Sox in a game that counted.
Damn! Vegas? Now we'll never know what goes on at this training camp.Mel Greenberg @womhoopsguru 3h

Geno will work Elena hard and get her to shore up her weaknesses. But in games, he'll do everything to play to her strengths. I fully expect to see her in Rio in 2016. God willing, I will literally see her there.
This thread was about EDD, n'est-ce pas?
Relax, ETT. I forgot the smiley face. This thread was also about the USA WBB. Sorry that it did not remain on course to your liking.
I think it will be interesting to see if EDD and BG develop enough to be on the team. BG was hampered by injuries and is still adjusting to the speed of the WNBA, which I think accounts for a lot of her foul trouble. EDD had a great season but was fairly ineffective in the second half of each playoff game, providing little offensive support to her team.
I would love to see Geno get to work with both.

Yes, Griner, with all her talent, is a big topic. But Elena's history with UConn plus her talent is probably a bigger story. Especially to the Philly-based Guru and many BYers.
This may come as a surprise, but IMO Griner does not make the Olympic squad at the current moment. I think her play in the WNBA has shown where she stands against top competition. I know her knee has slowed her down, but I wasn't as impressed with her rookie campaign as the hype. Yes, she has had a great rookie season but I don't think she is a top 15 American basketball player just yet. That could change by 2016 of course.
Whalen, Taurasi, Moore, Bird, Fowles, EDD, Parker, Augustus, McCoughtrey, Charles, Ogwumike, Catchings, Brunson, and a handful of college players have a chance at 2016 as a short list. Lots of competition.
Geno doesn't like "what ifs," but others will be asking. Tina Charles, Maya Moore, and Elena DelleDonne, plus supporting cast, could have rewritten the record books even more than the UConn teams did.Despite what happened with EDD at UCONN, I can only imagine that Geno is really looking forward to working with her. She has such a beautiful game and I am sure that there will be some "what if" converstaion between them at some point.

Yea, lot's of talent, but she is not competing with all of them. She's a 5 and is competing with Charles, Fowles, Appel, maybe Dolson, Williams, Langhorne, Vaughn??? They will take 2-3 for that position. 2012 it was Charles, Fowles and Jones as a 5/4.Whalen, Taurasi, Moore, Bird, Fowles, EDD, Parker, Augustus, McCoughtrey, Charles, Ogwumike, Catchings, Brunson, and a handful of college players have a chance at 2016 as a short list. I am sure it must be an oversight, but I just read JA's item in the Courant blogs, and EDD's name is not in the article about camp invites....but interestingly, Cappy is on the list...
