The Freshman Guards

Was sad to miss out on her but didn't think SCar would ever win that battle.
As humble as she is, I don’t think she was going to play behind anybody for two seasons. SC is very big on waiting your turn.

Dawn does a good job of keeping the S.C. kids at home--Wilson, Fulwiley, et al. Kim wasn't going to lose Williams to a non-Louisiana team.

I thought Rutgers was your team.
Believe it or not, some fans follow multiple teams. Some guy has a list of like his top 15 schools he roots for or something like that.

Even if we're your 15th favorite team, I'm honored were still somewhere on your dance card!

I haven't had the luxury of seeing Scott yet, but the others in the first 5 on the list have unbelievably high potential with their skill and athleticism.

Man, we had a rather large hole or at least appearance of one and opportunity at shooting guard.

I've got a theory brewing. Most of these kids would have been in 9th grade in 2020, correct? So I bet a lot of schools cancelled the season and the kids were stuck at home with time on their hands. I bet this group spent a lot of time alone at home working on their shot and perfecting their fundamentals. I wonder if that has anything to do with this freshman phenomenon?
Qadence Samuels said that exact thing is what she and her family did. Three times a day. Her father had her shooting at double rims (unforgiving), and told her to concentrate on swishing through the net without touching the rim.

She's not getting the attention that the others are, but Scott from Arkansas has been lighting it up. 34 today.

.-.
Is Hidalgo gonna go for 40 or 50 today? Has 14 in Q1.

Well never mind. Hidaglo scored 17 in Q1, but has 25 nearing the end of the game.

Having watched a few weeks of games at this point, this freshman class is absolutely exceptional. I can't recall a class having this much impact as freshman. Certainly opportunity is part of that too, but they have been delivering. I really hope the WNBA works on continuing to expand so all of these ladies have a place to play when they graduate!

It's especially impressive given the number of fifth year players around who have taken advantage of the bonus COVID year. A lot of these frosh are competing with 22 and 23-year-olds and quite frankly outshining them.

So the ACC has some whiz kids with memorable names in the backcourt:
  • Oluchi Okananwa for the Dookies
  • Hannah Hidalgo for the Irish

Now, Hannah is a palindrome, but Oluchi sounds very cool....:D;)
