Well I guess the other half of my theory is that their focus on fundamentals led into better preparedness for high school ball. Also many of these kids play in leagues outside of high school so I doubt a missed freshman season will be noticable after the experience gained through their sophomore-senior years.interesting theory though i think that time to work on fundamentals would be offset by a lack of game play experience. but you may be right!
Another theory of mine is that the game is getting more popular and more media attention, so more girls are playing the game, thus this is the new norm.
