It sure will. If they come out flat, I will be very worried. I hope Hurley worked his magic (or ripped into them or whatever) and they come out firing on all cylinders in front of what should be a crazy home crowd.

Especially on the perimeter.

This can’t be the game where the Florida guards starting hitting their 3’s. Florida has taken a lot the first few games with little success. I’m sure they saw the tape from our last game and will try spread the floor like St Joes.

The thread title is true. I never understood this. We have been plagued with slow starts for years now. It may be hard to get into rhythm offensively, but it's not hard to play some tough defense until you can find a dunk or a three-pointer to find your flow.

I mentioned this in the post game thread about St. Joe's.

IF (and I hope there isn't) another slow start, I'd be very happy to see the first player who is caught dogging it or doesn't do something that was emphasized in practice or game planning, get the quick hook with an animated Hurley meeting the player on the court with an earful of coaching as he escorts the player to the bench.

I'd try to sell CV on a 6th man role as a way of improving our starts.

Holy crap. They said Hurley scripted the first 5 offensive plays of the game. Not even that worked.

I had noticed they hadn't tried driving the ball almost at all, and on cue Vital tries to drive and instantly loses the dribble.

Apparently the first 5 minutes didn’t matter that much.
You have to be a special kind of bad to be losing to a team that didn't score in the first 5 minutes. Florida appears to be that special.

Motion is fine, you just need guys who can move.
I have never liked it as a primary offense. It works best if you hve two knock down shooters on the floor, but the offense lacks creativity to me. Yes, Hurley knows more about basketball than me. Just one man's opinion.

One team is going to hit three 3s in a row and win this game easily.

Jalen Gaffney needs to not play until he's ready. He's horrible right now, and everytime he comes in the game, he doesn't defend and the other team goes on a run.

Thank goodness that Florida started almost as bad as us. It still needs to fixed PRONTO.

I think the first 5 minutes told us alot actually. Contrary to taking the pessimistic view and harping on us going scoreless for the first 5, I'm going to praise our defense and our grit that got us through those minutes. It could have been 12-0, or 14-0. We could have folded. These guys worked their tails off on defense for those 5 minutes, keeping the crowd in it, and ultimately allowing themselves back in the game. We were going nuts in section 6...hats off to the D!

He is maybe 50 percent healthy. I think Hurley is trying to give him some time so when he is healthy he will be ready to contribute
