Any of you who are afraid of being in Duke's bracket watching this game on ESPN so far? They are struggling mightly. They can't hit the broad side of a barn. Will be interesting to see how long their struggles persist today...

0 for 10 from 3, down by 11 points at the U-8 timeout (first half) and have scored a total of 12 points. Against a very pedestrian Georgia Tech team. Long way to go, but you can't tell me that we should be afraid of this team. Use the Georgia Tech blueprint and just do it better, over the whole game... because we are a significantly better team than they are.

I agree with the "when was the last time they played anyone really good, other than Clemson (and they lost that game)?" crowd. This team is grossly overrated running up wins on the worst group of ACC opponents we have seen in our lifetimes.

their performance right now vs Ga Tech really doesn't mean much to me because we see the #1 seed struggle in that 12:00pm quarterfinal opener all the time. If UConn can't get off the 8/9 line then I would prefer that they play Duke over say a team like Auburn or Florida because of the factors already mentioned in this thread regarding Duke's inexperience and lack of competition played the past few months. They also might have just lost Maliq Brown to a shoulder injury.

The only team I'm truly scared of in this tourney. I know there are other teams that can pose problems for us and everybody else but I think when the brackets come out my eyes will instinctively go looking for that 4 letter word.

Question:
Do we want them in our bracket?

The surface answer is probably not, but...I see a lot of comments in the chats and in the yard where some want us to be tested.

Where would we be if we faced Duke second round....and won?

This is an open question about how you feel about us and them this particular year. I know we have to deal with the BET first, but I keep seeing 8 seed with little wiggle room. So let's look ahead for one day.
Jay, please please please, no more usage of the words scared or afraid!! We are going to have to beat good teams, one of them might be named Duke. That is where the A+ game will be played. Hass distributes like an Amway dealer, Liam is on like his 33 pt game, Karaban does Karaban, and Solo shoots lights out. We defend best all year, and Duke has a bit of a down game. Voila'!! Huskies by 5.

I’d feel bad, but I don’t. Not even in the slightest. He’ll make his millions while folks who rely on their SS will likely need blood pressure medication.

I still maintain the rivalry personally but I’m not a fan of the kid getting injured as soon as March Madness starts. That’s just diabolical.
No, it's not something you want to see at all, but injuries are part of the game. The wild thing about the college hoops season is that injuries can change a seed line (us) or even disallow a team getting into the tourney (Xavier). Matchups and paths can change materially and have impact on how far a team goes in the tourney.

I'm in myrtle with a Duke fan and he's devastated. They are passionate fans and this is heartbreaking news. That kid was a key piece to the development of this tourney and the fact that the world won't see him in this environment is a shame.

He's probably going to be fine. He's on the bench without a boot.

Idk - this doesn’t look good. That is a major stretch of the ankle. I bet he feels it in the morning, probably juiced up on adrenaline right now.

Our odds just improved. I've never been an "I want to beat them at their best" guy. I just want to win.

I don't wish Flagg any harm at all.

I could care less about how this imps ts Duke.

I wish we would stop with the negativity and the posts hoping for some fortunate draw that would allow us to avoid whatever schools some want to avoid. This type of thinking leads to the adage "karma is a b!tch". I'm willing to take our chances against whoever we face.

IMHO we struggle against efficient defenses and we are terrible at defending the three. Houston and Duke fit both those criteria's so of the good teams I am most concerned about them. Other teams that give us match up problems are St. Johns, BYU, Clemson (an underrated team this year), and Texas Tech.

People always say it's tough to beat the same team three times in a season. What about four if we meet St. John's in the NCAA Tournament? That would be crazy.

well, we didn't beat them the first two times this year so I think the likelihood of us being them four times in one season is pretty much zero.
