The Crowd

If you didn't go to the game, then don't criticize the crowd.
It's fair commentary. They're just sharing how it sounded on TV. Also not unexpected based on how the game went.

LOL! No sale, amigo! The Gampel crowds supposedly so great they overcome the opposition! Are you saying that’s a myth?
Best crowd Gampel ever had was against Pitt in a snowstorm that basically turned it into all students. Went dead quiet as Chevy Troutman silenced them. One of the biggest regular season disappointments ever to not be able to have that crowd go nuts with a win.

I remember that he in 2005. Fun trivia fact: That was ESPN's first College GameDay for basketball where they visited the stadium for the prime time game.
Unfortunately, Josh Boone got destroyed by Chevon Troutman in that game.

I’ve been to MSG and Gampel this year. MSG was the better environment
Which Gampel game? MSG was Gonzaga so I'm curious who you saw UConn play at Gampel.

Several times this year I have been at Gampel and then re-watched parts of the game on TV. TV doesn't do it justice. I thought the crowd was great overall but do agree that, at times, could've been better. And the amount of people leaving at the end was mind-blowing.

75% of the students in attendance Friday felt like they have no idea who Ben Gordon is. So sad
That Gonzaga MSG game was miles better than any Gampel or XL crowd.

Honestly the more drunk sicko UConn fans v. the spoiled fairweather fans and students the better.

.-.
I think at least some of the people who “leave early” are just leaving their seats and watching from the concourse where they can beat some of the crowd when it’s over.

Going to the concourse to save 30 seconds? Its sickening watching fans leave early, stay in your seats until the game ends. I saw people in my section leave with 4 minutes left!! Then more left with 1 minute left in a one possession game its insane and unacceptable.

well I agree it's dumb, and I stay in my seat until the buzzer sounds, I was just making an observation.

UConn fans have this obsession with the crowd.

Its weird. No other fanbase does this.

There are always crowd complaints, leave early complaints, and then the old tickets distributed vs. Scanned/turnstyle.

I dont get it. Who gives a flip about the crowd?

Watch your game. Pay for your own tickets and Leave others alone.

They weren't students in 2004. Most weren't even born yet. What were you expecting lol

Creighton, so 12pm start and we’re playing from behind most of the game. Crowd was fine, but something about MSG brings out the best in us

I was at the Creighton game and thought the crowd was good. If the MSG crowd was better, that's impressive, even with a Saturday night game against Gonzaga.

Sure, to each their own and leave others alone. At the same time, part of the reason some -maybe even most - people go to games is for the atmosphere. A big part of that is the crowd. Fans who care about their team also like to see (and hear) the fans supporting the team, and hopefully giving the players a little help. I'm a fan of many sports and I can tell you it's not just UConn fans who care about it.

Dan Hurley doesn't agree with that. Whenever I see him at the games he is constantly urging the fans to get louder and stand up.

Dan‘s not perfect. He thinks Gampel has a competitive advantage over the XL center when the opposite is true.

That checks out since your average senior in college would have been less than 2 years old when he graduated.

No fanbase self loathes like UConn fans though.

Their being left alone, any fan has that right to leave early if they choose to. People also have the right give their opinion on fans leaving early, fan how you wanna fan.

Well, in fairness when I went to games in high school and college, the answer to almost every trivia question on the scoreboard was Wes Bialosuknia and I couldn’t pick him out of a lineup at the time.

Unfortunately, I think it comes down to…we’re getting old. Lol. We’re closer to 2050 than we are 2000 at this point.

Anyone in the boneyard leave games early? I’m assuming if you park in the garage you leave early and if it takes so long to get out of the garage why park there? Plenty of lots within walking distance

I park in the South Garage and I do not leave early. So it takes a half hour to get out. So what? I'd rather not, but you just gotta relax. Put on the radio. Chill. The convenience of the park is worth the inconvenience of a half hour.

If we had a poll on if you leave early or not would we get honest answers?

.-.
The only sporting events I'd consider leaving early are ones at suburban NFL stadiums. Those take decades to leave.

1. Walk to Gampel in ANY weather conditions.
2. Stay for the entire game, even if there is work, school, or any other obligation(s) the next day.
3. Walk back to car in same or worse weather conditions.

They haven't played anyone good at the XL this year. Best team they've played there is Xavier.
