Sounded great on tv for the first 8 minutes and then crickets. The team was in it until the end. It was a fun game, nothing like when the team got booed for 8 seconds.

Shocked at how it sounded the rest of the game. Not sure if it’s an older crowd or b2b titles spoiled the base, but unless the team is blowing out a team it’s quiet.

Leaving early was weak too

Crowd tried to give the team energy. Team didn't
respond. Turnovers kept the fried from grinning into the second half. That was all people were talking about while walking out of if the game.

If you didn't go to the game, then don't criticize the crowd.

Was at the game, crowd was great. Constant TOs and shot-clock violations kept the buzz-kill going.

My only gripe with the crowd was when people started leaving while we were only down 4 with time left. THAT was unreal.

Still haven't heard a good reason why Stewart didn't play in the 2nd.

I’ve been to MSG and Gampel this year. MSG was the better environment
After dropping this one, makes me wonder what kind of foothold UConn fans will have on Storrs South in the rematch. Between the combo of StJ going Gaga and the UConn fairweather types not showing, guess it’s gonna be very red.

Is there a fanbase out there that makes noise throughout a steady stream of turnovers where there defense is ripping out your offensive soul on top of letting a big early lead sliip away?
I doubt there is but if someone wants to show a video of it i will gladly stand corrected.
The leaving early thing? I have no problem calling that out esp. on a fri-sat night.
Although i will say the stories i hear of people spending over an hour in the gampel garage sound like the same stories of people leaving foxborough after a pats game.

I was there and the crowd desperately wanted to go crazy. It was during the first half run and every single time Uconn showed some life. Unfortunately, the second half was full of turnovers, end of clock Hail Marys, and RJ Luis midrange silencers.

Leaving early I have an even bigger problem with then booing, I don't like booing but I can at least say that fan cares and is engaged in the game, if that fan is a jerk at least it's a jerk who cares.

What is the point of leaving early why waste the time and money to even go to the game.

Well. I didn’t leave early and I sat on the third floor of the North garage and did not move an inch for a half hour. LOL

I was at the game and the crowd was incredible when warranted. Was loudest at times that I've heard all year. The 22 Turnovers was abolutely crushing. We also shot 27% from 3 (and that factors in the incredible start) missed a ton of free throwas and every other possession we either chucked the ball out of bounds or fell on our face dribbling and lost possession. Not much to get too pumped up about. There were very few positive back to back plays after the first 9 minutes of the game.

Never understood getting on the crowd when the team is bad. We (were) constantly silencing crowds on the road last year - it happens in every arena around the country. Your team scores, you say "woo!". Your team does not score, you silently put your hands behind your head. You do the same thing at home in front of a TV. It truly is rocket science

St. John's is the story in college basketball this season. They haven't had a team like this since the Mike Jarvis coached team with Ron Artest, Bootsy Thornton, Lavor Postell, Erick Barkley. That was 25 years ago. Rick Pitino with a top 10 team in NYC. It's going to be a huge Johnnies crowd and their fans are going to be crazy. Creighton has one of the best home court advantages in the country, they have 18,000+ rabid fans at all their home games. It's really gonna be gut check time for us on Tuesday and then at MSG two weeks from now.

Our team doesn’t respond to the crowd well. When it gets rocking they make mistakes.

The worst parts were people leaving early in a one possession game and students laughing/talking during Ben Gordon’s speech. Just an overall embarrassment.

Kudos to you for not leaving early, well you already kind of have to expect to drive in traffic after the game. It's why I take my time getting my to car after a game and get a little sleep in if I can lol.

Oh I know. It’s all part of the deal. I just don’t judge any olds or people with small kids if they try to jump that.

The crowd was great the first 10 minutes and then was quiet the next 30 minutes. I wonder if there's a parallel to something else that was great the first 10 minutes and then sucked afterwards

I don't understand criticizing the crowd. The crowd seemed super pumped up to me. For the first time this season, my section did not sit down the entire game (I missed the Creighton game). Having said that, the turnovers, desperation shots and defensive lapses were soul crushing, and left us little to cheer about.

My section at least was noticeably more involved than any other game at Gampel this year even during some of our rough patches. Huge portions of the crowd stood for the large majority of the game, and that has not been the case in the upper bowl even in the Baylor and Creighton games. Considering the game state, pretty hard to blame the crowd.

If you go to the games, don’t boo.

Eh. If you’re paying for a ticket and the teams effort isn’t there (1H vs. DePaul) booing is fine. This isn’t middle school rec basketball. They are pros now.
