I remember a game at Fenway years ago. The Sox were trailing by two and had two on. The Boomer hit one that looked like an infield popup from where I was sitting. I was way back behind home plate beneath the second deck. I then noticed the center fielder looking up and jogging back. He kept going and so did the ball. The Boomer had done it again.

I remember an interview with Scott

"Boomer, does it bother you when you come up to bat and see the fielders playing way back on the grass"

"Where I hit 'em, there ain't no grass!"

Shame on you Danzz, the Boomer player first base.

Joe Foy played 3rd prior to Rico didn't he? But Boomer may have played 3rd early in his career?

If not Danzz should be forever banned as a Sox fan!!;)

I remember Mickey Rivers hitting a squibber to first and beat Boomer to the bag. It was awesome. During the great Boston Massacre. That's my memory of the Boomer.

The Boomer was primarily a first baseman winning 8 gold gloves there. He did however play some third base too. He played a total of 209 games at third and was the starter there for the Sox in 1969.

I was a big Boomer fan. Was at a game at Fenway sitting in the RF bleachers. It was my turn for a hot dog and beer run and while I was gone, Boomer hit a HR that hit landed on my seat. I thought everybody was bustin my chops and didn't believe it until I saw a highlight at home.

RIP big guy.

IIRC, he moved to make room for The Hawk.

Actually, the Hawk played mostly right field for the Sox. The year that the Boomer played most of his games at third (1969), Dalton Jones was the first baseman. But it was a tribute to the Boomer's skills that he could play third as well as first.
