What is it you don't understand? If I foul you when shooting you get 2 FTA. If you foul me off the ball, I get 0 FTA. One foul each, YET you have two more attempts and probably 2 more points. Fouls committed may not tell the whole story. Did I answer your question?

There seems to be a lot you don't understand. The title of this thread is The Big East is not our Friend and posters are posting the conspiracy theory that the Big East thinks we're leaving the conference so they've convinced the refs to punish us for that. Someone posted the foul discrepancy, total number of fouls in our Big East games by us and by our opponents to illustrate that point. I posted the foul discrepancy, total number of fouls in our non cupcake out of conference games to show we get called for a lot more fouls than our opponents in our out of conference games as well.

OK. I see. I may have jumped the gun. I may have missed the line of comments.

For the record my beliefs are, the refs are bad and are one of many reasons we have lost games. I would NOT go as far as say it is a conspiracy, but I would say that the BE agenda is not aligned with UConn's. The refs have a hard job, but are incompetent at best.

These officiating complaints are beyond ridiculous. We are fouling like crazy because our defense is bad. We get away with lots of fouls too. We can’t expect every off-ball foul to be called just because we run a lot of off-ball action. If we had more dribble penetration we’d get more calls.

With regard to the big east, it’s the league we are in and if we lose games it’s because we got beat. There’s no conspiracy and let’s stop acting like we’re gods gift to the world.

I agree with @nelsonmuntz — this thread is an embarrassment. UConn is starting to get a crybaby reputation and that stinks.

We do get held too much but it's a physical league, it always has been since its inception. If they called all of that stuff, they would have to start calling our moving screens off of all that movement as well and the games would look even more like girls high school field hockey games with a whistle every 5 seconds.

We do get called for moving screens. That’s how Johnson and Reed get the majority of the calls.

There is never a singular reason why any team loses. There are multiple reasons. The terrible officiating is playing its part. I don’t know why this is so taboo for some of you to admit

You can have a team that’s horrible at defending and rebounding, AND acknowledge the horrendous lopsided calls .

If teams are hand checking, grabbing cutters, running through screeners they should be called.

Lot of bad calls and the refs have it in for us and our dumb aze commissioner doesn’t bother to protect the conference asset from petty refs with a chip on their shoulders. That said we foul a lot because can’t play M2M for crap and are always a step behind. Danny is killing this team with his stubborn need to play tough guy belly to belly D. Grow up and get your guys into D schemes where foot speed doesn’t kill them.

Having said that this thread is about the refs and calls. Listen we foul way too much because we get beat off the dribble a lot. But the things we’re called for are ok for the other teams to do, this has been obvious since the Providence game. Teams can hold, bump, knee do anything without being called hence what seems to always be a big difference in the numbers. We still can win all of these games we’ve fallen short on so by no means do I blame the stripes. But if you’re not seeing this occur right in front of you then you don’t watch the game very closely, it’s real!!!

Agree with all this. We know we foul. Hurley even admits this. Posters don’t want to acknowledge this. They’d rather virtue signal.

Playing zone you need to have rebounders and awareness. Two things this team doesn’t have.

There are people here that are not blaming the officials for the losses but pointing out the obvious and to not see it is funny. Do me a favor and get it right. I’ve been pissed at plays and defense many times and said they are looking at the bubble if they continue to find ways to lose.
