The distance will be shorter this year. Any thoughts on who you like?

I think Sierra Leone rolls this group.

My brother in law is part owner of Seize the Grey. So I have to go with The Preakness winner. My wife and her brother are at Saratoga today. They left Bristol at 6AM. Long day.

Big upgrade in jock for this race. Resilience is my longshot pick.

The one thing I do not understand…he lugs in towards the rail nearly every race.

But in the mornings, they always work him in company and he’s always on the rail. Run him five wide a few times with someone inside him and see how it goes in the afternoon.

I heard they fitted the horse with a new bit and tried it out during workouts. Supposedly, it will help address the issue. Right now, I'm thinking it's Sierra Leone and the other two classic winners in one tier, the rest a notch below. Leone had a pretty easy rail trip in the Derby, I'm not sure he'll be able to get to the rail so easy this time for the first turn.

I agree, he had a very wide trip derby and was right there late. I think the longer priced pletcher horse in interesting in exotics as well. I think seize the gray is a toss out today

You're probably right, but late-stage D. Wayne messes me up. I just can't toss him.

They’re using a “power steering” bit today - I don’t think they used it in workouts.

One issue today…no one is stopping. Track is really favoring speed and the weather here likely will keep that going all day.

It has been favoring speed but typically does not extend to 11/4 at Saratoga. Sierra leone overcame the speed bias at churchill and keeneland. Don’t think it will be an issue for him today.

I'm thinking the new bit didn't take.

Ah, no.

Track carried the winner.

But it felt like Sierra Leone had a spotter pushing him wide down the backstretch into the stretch - at least until SL decided to murder him once they straightened away.

He took out at least three other horses in the stretch. I thought he was coming down.

I was certain he was. At this point, especially given that he has an awful paddle motion with his left front, I would just assume that he is gonna make left turns in the stretch until they give up.

Ironically, it was Gafflione who floated him wide the last six furlongs and nearly got sent into the afterlife for his troubles.

Horrible ride by pratt, needed to move earlier in be in contention at top of stretch. Will make travers a great betting race. Best euro supposedly coming to travers

I think Sierra Leone wins it if it was the usual 1.5 miles.
