I was just thinking about the start of the season the other day and wondering if anyone felt like making The Bandwagon Program an annual thing?

As a refresher, you could pick any way you'd like to donate money to the Calhoun Cardiac Research Foundation and I tracked it over the course of the season. Some of the ways people chose were:

$ per Win
$ per Big East Win
$ per Top 25 Win
$ per Win over Pitt or Cuse
Shabazz 3 pointers
Points scored by a German player

I am not trying to pressure anyone because, frankly, we've beaten the donation doors hard enough over the last year. The people who were in it last year (14 of us) seemed to have fun with it and made watching the games a little more interesting. In the end, we raised just under 2,700 dollars with it.

Post your interest (or disinterest) here and we'll make a call on it together.

In.

I'm a Mets and NY Giants fan. If UConn hoops doesn't hold my interest this season I will go crazy from sustained lack of sports interest. I'll consider this an insurance policy to make sure I stay interested.

I will try to think of something sufficiently silly and interesting that will also allow me to contribute again to this great cause.

For starters, I'm thinking some amount for each must-have recruit that we miss, but I'm not sure I have enough money for that.

I'll do it again.

Same as last season, $10 per win, but with a kicker. I'd be willing to double the whole donation if we make the Final Four.

Can we look into giving those who are making a pledge the option of donating to Cardiac Research (something very close to me that I did donate to last year) or Autism Research (something that is also important to our head coach emeritus)?

How about the Boy's & Girls Club of North Lake Tahoe. Im sure JC likes the Boy's & Girls Club and we need the donations. ;)

I'm up for Jim wants a bigger TV fund of Southern California! I'm sure JC likes Jim's and TVs.

I like a good joke as much as anyone but for the record I have no stake in the Autism game, JC however does (he has a couple of autistic grandkids and I believe he is the state spokesman for the cause). Forget I mentioned it. I thought it would be preferable to the situation we found ourselves in last year where after blowing the initial goal out of the water, we had no choice but to devote the additional funds to the same goal. Forgive me for thinking that proactivity would be a positive thing.

Lighten up a bit - they were jokes. There is no contract one signs that directs funds from something fun like the Bandwagon Program to one an only one specific target. If you play and want to donate your money to any UConn oriented fund, nobody will have any problem with it. Play the Bandwagon Program game and donate your commitment to any thing that pleases you.

To be honest, with the Bandwagon Program, you're donating on your honor and I didn't collect anyone's money personally. If you'd like to give it to autism research, that's your call.
