The Athletic: Ranking 136 college football teams entering 2025, from Penn State to Kent State

Delaware should be.

Temple has a one point loss to Navy and a win againts UTSA which is better than anything we have.

Even the people who made the ranking admitted that they screwed up in the comments.

You don’t know ball at all.
One error and you say the rankings are garbage. Maybe Temple deserves it but who cares, it's one omission

Why should UConn be lower than what did Delaware, because of head-to-head? That's not how it works. Alabama lost to FSU

CBS has UConn 68 and +26 Delaware 94

Sagarin has UConn 78 and +35 Delaware 113

They are better until they do something to show that they aren't. A close loss to WKU doesn't do that, in fact it just makes us look worse since we couldn't win there.

The list is nonsensical.

so you are saying Delaware is way too low or UConn is way too high. I know which way I'm leaning. share your own sensical list since you seem to be the all-knowing college football guru. Let's see how you do.

Well they lost to WKU who just got demolished by FIU who we demolished just two weeks ago. Is that enough now?

We’ll see how it shakes out this weekend. The truth is that most of these teams are pretty bad and there isn’t much separating them.

We still lost on the same field that WKU won on. And FIU looked like a different team last night.

.-.
We needed to get our D acclimated, so many new guys. It seems like they are somewhat more adjusted at this point and they are stopping big plays. That and a few Fagnano scrambles and we are 6-0. Since there is recency bias in polls, I like us over Delaware in the rankings.

I think there were some mental hurdles to get over as well after doing so well for 3.5qtrs against Cuse then blowing it. Then coming out and giving up a ton of points to Delaware early. Looked like it got to their heads a bit and they played tense, needed to loosen up a bit.

I said it before but I think pulling out the W late in the Buffalo game and not having it go to OT took a lot of weight off everyone's shoulders, from all 3 phases to the coaching staff. The D made some mistakes that game but they played better overall. More importantly, the team got the monkey off their back and proved to themselves they could perform in crunch time.

I think it showed in the FIU game, and I'm looking forward to seeing it continue against BC this Saturday!

I prefer to think of it as good coaching getting the mistakes crossed off one by one. And perhaps some new wrinkles added. Somehow, though, the D has to learn to get off their blockers better. Even now the running backs are running within inches of them.

A quick update on our opponents results before tomorrow's 136 update:

A quick Sunday update before the rankings are released tomorrow. UConn is the first of the group to become bowl eligible. Let's see how close we get to Syracuse because, lol.

Syracuse can't be that high anymore.
Yep, however both teams would need to move a minimum of +/-12 spots for UConn to surpass Syracuse (assuming my math is correct), and I don't see that happening.

This week's update. UConn ranked 2nd among opponents, moving up 6 spots. Ok sure. Five top25 ranked teams from this list lost. Four undefeateds left. Syracuse is the big loser of the week. BCU moves up 2 spots by only getting beat 15 pts to ND. Sure Jan.

Note that I'll be away and sans laptop for the next two weeks, so not sure I can do all this fancy copypasta stuff on an iPad. We'll see how it goes.

The SOS is not our Strength

UConn has the Paul Lynde square

In Europe, no laptop, and just an iPad, and I’m not paying Microsoft $$ for the Office 365, so this and next weeks’ posts will be super abbreviated. Apologies in advance for any typos.

For the first time ever, UConn is at the top of the list of all opponents, and finally recognized for its body of work, even if the other teams are not cream of the crop.

48 UConn (+28), 7-3
49 Duke (-10), 5-4
88 Syracuse (-3), 3-7

95 Delaware (+5), 5-4
96 Rice (+6), 5-5
105 Buffalo (+2), 5-4
109 Air Force (+7), 3-6

110 BC (-4), 1-9
113 Florida Atlantic (+1), 4-5
115 UAB, 3-6
122 FIU (+1), 4-5
129 Ball State (+7), 4-5

That’s a beautiful thing to see.

No update? I know you said you are away for 2 weeks

UConn up to the Top 10 in G6. I think Navy, SDSU, UConn should be 6-8
