The America 12

Today's Courant is running a story about the official end to the BE as we knew it. Says a rumored name for the new conference will be The America 12. Yes, it ain't the Big East, and yeahe it will be a collection of mongrels and a Husky but what do you think? Could it grow on you?

You're onto something there, Zen, but there already is an America's Cop for boaters. It would need a different name.

The obvious name should be the TAC. The Transition Athletic Conference. And you would just 'tac' the names on the board so they are easily untacked when they move.

Nothing is decided and Aresco said in a press release that they didn't have a leading contender. I bet they don't end up with the A-12. They are going to do something without a number in the name.

Sounds better to keep Big East (or some derivative), and let the Catholic schools name themselves the Apostolic 12, or something.

Haha saw this comment on ESPN forum "Let the Catholic 7 be known as The Big Priest and let the Big East keep that name." But seriously I think it should at least be America(n) 12. Flows a lil better. But I like the "East Coast Conference" just my own idea. We have the West Coast Conference (WCC) with Gonzaga over here and so I think ECC with Uconn wouldn't be bad. Idk..

Journalists, some of thrm anyway, are smart enough to monitor domain registrations by key lawyers / representatives involved n these things... But the fact that it happened this quickly, yeah I agree someone was told to check out the domain registry...

This name is to me and I expect that we will be a member of this crap conference USA redux for no more than a year, uconn is just above this academically and athletically

I don't really like the America 12, because I don't think there are 12 teams, but I think the catholics should be known as the Judas Conference and let us be in the Big East.
