Texas lifts all Covid restrictions

This news becomes so funny now.

NCAA moves women's basketball tournament to San Antonio area amid pandemic.

This is a similar approach the organization has put in place for this year’s men’s tournament, which will be held entirely in Indianapolis and nearby venues to minimize travel amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Hasn't Florida stayed open for a long time now? I'm not sure of what the exact statistical comparison is with the other states that have had harsh closures, but certainly the ncaa would need to look into the differences before making a decision on such a logistical nightmare as moving an entire tournament.

Opening up is the right thing. People who arent vaccinated, or are over 65, can choose to stay home.

By the way, how’d things go in Florida after the Super Bowl with 1/3 of the stadium filled, 25,000 fans? Anyone hear of a surge of Covid in Florida? No.
I think there is a big gap between 25000 fans in an outdoor stadium and a 100% capacity indoor stadium with no masks.

Just as I have always thought "some" restrictions went to far, removing all restrictions now does not seem prudent. As in most cases, the best route is probably between the 2 extremes.

From an economic standpoint, the long-term pain will vastly exceed any possible short-term benefit.

From a publc health standpoint, the ignorance is staggering.

Here's some baseline data.
