If this happens. In football it's no debate who the strongest conference is. I guess more national titles in the future for the SEC.

Saban won't coach forever. Alabama has been down before. I think Tennessee has a better coach now. I am glad Pruitt is gone.

Even without this move, SEC already had the strongest conference football wise. OU will definitely improve gymnastics and softball. WBB wise, Texas can definitely help.

Wait, Pruitt's gone already? Let me guess, for cheating?

Well, if Tennessee can't contribute national titles, they've certainly made up for it with the cheating and sexual assault-condoning, lest anyone question whether they fit in with the SEC's core values.

DYK that Josh Heupel was coaching at UCF. The offense ranked in the top ten in the country. all three years.

True. OU could have won a national title. If they had a defense.

It makes you wonder if Kim Mulkey heard things months ago. We’re happy regardless
She may well have known but if she did, it's probably because the folks at LSU (who were privy to the backroom talks with OU and UT) told her so in order to lure her.

Probably one of many factors. Ending career in home state, right down the road where her mom and other friends live. Gets a new challenge along with salary/incentives. Throw in the Big 12 falling apart (appears that way), it definitely could impact her thinking. Woodward probably hinted at things to come. Less money, less resources and etc to work with.

Jim Schlossnagle is another (TCU baseball coach). Hopping from TCU to A&M seemed like a lateral move a few months ago. Now, at the very least, it's a very fortunate coincidence. People with agents who make that kind of big money hear things. Some are definitely privy to certain info over others

Kim would not have had to "hear anything." Anyone could have legitimately said that the SEC was a stable conference, the B12 was not, and the landscape was probably going to change dramatically in 2025 when most conference media rights were up for bid. It was well known that both the B12 and Pac were in danger of imploding, and that TX was a key linchpin in that.

I wonder how this instability will affect recruiting and transfers for the remaining Big 12 schools. The Big 12's future is in peril, would a recruit want to risk going to a conference with an uncertain future? Will players transfer to bigger named conferences?

In the long run non of this conference realignment really made any difference. Kim could get just about any job in women’s college BBall anytime she wanted to.

Yes it would have. I promise you. Baylor women's basketball will hurt from this. From the level of competition to recruiting. You're correct about Mulkey. But If she stayed at Baylor. They would hurt unless they moved as well to a better conference.

From what I can tell wbb players are lured by superior coaches and programs that they feel comfortable in. Not by conferences. Football recruiting is what's in peril. From a financial perspective, it will definitely hurt program wide

I believe we will see 3 permanent rivals in football.
MS State is the oldest football rival for Ole Miss, 2nd longest in SEC, LSU at 5th longest rivalry, and Alabama as the 8th longest.

I don't think pods or divisions will allow for keeping the 100+ year old rivalries going. The conference can keep the old rivalries going by just using 3 permanent.

I'm excited for baseball and softball. Commissioner Sankey has already talked about the stupidity of limiting those two sports to 11.7 and 12 scholarships respectively. All indications are that he intends to tell the NCAA to pound sand and authorize SEC teams to give up to 27 (roster size) scholarships annually. Thus, every player on the roster will have a free ride.

To me, the NCAA limitations have had a racist effect even if there was no racist intent. It was more beneficial for low income minority kids to go to the minors and kick around for four years than to go to college where they have the chance to earn degrees that are much more valuable than a short minor league career.. White, middle class players have dominated NCAA baseball for years.

Texas and Oklahoma are strong baseball programs. Add them to this-century national champions, LSU, South Carolina, Mississippi State, Florida, Vanderbilt etc and you have a super strong league that creates alot of Big Leaguers - with college degrees. A legion of minor leaguers come from these schools - with degrees or many hours toward degrees.

Add income from name, image, likeness, and college baseball might not be so lily white anymore.

One thing is for sure, though, Tennessee football will eventually be elite again. It's just a matter of time. They have the tradition, the stadium, the money, facilities, etc., to succeed.

Havent won a conference title in 23 years. Last division title was 14 yrs ago. And with Bama & Aub likely moving to the East, that isnt looking any more likely.

"eventually"
