The talent this point guard possesses has been well-documented since her first wicked crossover as an eighth-grader playing up on older Tennessee Flight teams. But the reason she's included from this event is because of her growth as a true point guard. (Hansen)

Confident combo-guard with offensive fire power; deep range threat, breaks down defenders; brings IQ to the floor, competitive persona. (Olson)

Maybe she can't make the jump to college, but I'd give her a try if I were TN. Considering the options.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Tennessee's backcourt sustained two major losses, with Andraya Carter forgoing her final season of eligibility and Te'a Cooper out the entire season with a knee injury.

Carter issued a statement Wednesday saying she was ending her college career to recover from a series of injuries. Lady Volunteers coach Holly Warlick said Cooper injured her left knee while playing basketball at home.

Yes, old news indeed but Cooper has big time potential and is fun to watch. Big loss. Carter is such a gritty player and really puts her heart into every play. When she talks about her body injuries/knee pain I believer her because every single time I watch Tennessee I see her sacrificing her body one way or another. I will really miss watching Carter play. I hope Cooper returns stronger next year, Tennessee will need her leadership.

Tennessee still has a lot of talent but this is definitely a blow.

I do think Tennessee made some good assistant additions in the offseason that should really help big time in their recruiting. That'll be important because I think Georgia and Florida are on the upswing in terms of upcoming talent.
 
Holly's presser actually shows a lot of grace, and she handles the Candice Parker question with great tact.

That depends if you are a glass half full or half empty type person. Warlick also had regular season wins over two of the FF teams last year (Syracuse & Oregon State. ) The glass half empty person would point to the program lows like the number of losses to unranked teams and the .500 SEC conference record. I'm a UCONN fan so I'm glass is half full in this case. I think Holly deserves a long extension-coach for life sounds reasonable to me.

Deshields may well turn pro at the end of this academic year. If so, all eyes will be on whether Holly can do any significant recruiting during this year. If not, the countdown likely begins.....

The problem is although many SEC coaches have an idea about offense, they have only a small clue about offense. There is a dearth of teams in the SEC that teach modern ball movement, share the ball offense. I'm holding out hope for Stephanie at Vandy. I would love to see Warlick do what Dawn has done at SC. That is hire a coach who is good at both analytics and offensive schemes, then make them a pseudo coach. Smart woman that Dawn.
 
I know there's a lot of UT hatred on our forum. I don't share in it. I'd love to see their program return to the forefront. It would be great for the game. Cooper looked like such a gem in the McDonalds AA game. I would have loved to see her be the beneficiary of better coaching than she's received...and now this. Just sad...
 
Cooper is a stud, just made poor decisions last year. Carter was a very hard player. I liked her. To me she seemed like one of the few on their team that played smart and the right way. Also Diamond and Mercedes are both good players and didn't play that bad. Mercedes I think actually played better than people have given her credit for. Diamond obviously is talented but i just think lacks a mentor who can explain to her the right way to go about things. She should just go pro asap. I do expect them to be a tough out in the tourney if they get there.

NP. Mine was intended as a gentle helpful reminder, nothing more. The strength of the boneyard is you are guaranteed help, instant correction, and someone to disagree or agree with you. Often it is the same person providing all of these things.

Thanks guys. I thought she did a great job. Onot the highlights video. There is the announcers are given some thoughts on the game.
