TN is playing REALLY good tonight. apparently the players had a 4 hour meeting with just them. no coaches. whatever they did/said it is helping. their TEAM defense is very good this evening. can they play 4 quarters of this type of ball? we shall see...
Maybe they should exclude HW from the locker room for big games...

No, just calling it as I see it. If the Lady Vols play poorly in the 2nd half, that's what I'll say. I do that with all teams I watch. Including the Team I'm a fan of "UCONN"

Congrats. I know you have been waiting all season to hype the Vols.

Can they play like this for 5 or 10 games in a row? Or 2?

41-28 Lady Vols lead with 5 minutes to go in 3rd Quarter.

Can these PAC 12 Announcers show more love for the Lady Vols. They know more or want to talk more about the Lady Vol players then the Oregon State players. Poor Job by them unless you're a Lady Vol fan. Maria like she was with Carolyn Peck will like these announcers.

.-.
Oregon State back into the game 45-40 end of 3rd Quarter. Lady Vols score 10 points in 3rd Quarter. Can't do that in this 4th QTR if they want to win this game.

Oregon St had the ball for a full minute with 2:05 left and could not score a basket to take the Lead. Good Defense by the Lady Vols.

A pair of teams who shouldn't be ranked in the top 15... maybe not even the top 20...

Oregon State is not a good team (at least tonight). No motion on offense, couldn't get an open shot at the end. Tennessee escapes with a win.

.-.
UT looked better because OS made them look like a top 10 team. However, the bottom line is UT scored only 53 points. That won't cut it against the upper tier teams. If OS is a top 10 team, the state of women's basketball is not good.

Lady Vols win 53 -50. They scored 8 points in the 4th Qtr and Oregon St scored 10 points in Qtr. Oregon St relies too heavily on the 3 point shot. Hamblin got 8 touches in the game. She should have had more with how poorly Oregon St's guards were shooting. Good Win for the Lady Vols. Oregon St not ready for prime time.

An important win for Tennessee
Desields played with a lot of heart
but her missed foul shots (among others) surely point to injured wheels.
Announcers noted a 4-hour players only meeting.

Vols win. Rough game - at least offensively. Both teams would get smoked by a UConn or ND.

.-.
Oregon St. scored 18 pts in the first half and Tennessee scored 18 in the second half. Neither one of these two teams are top 25 material.

Wow - did not see that coming. So does Oregon State know how to play a zone defense? LVs are not a three point shooting team and live on dribble drives, OS is a slow team that cannot stay in front of anyone. A zone really might have been a good idea. First time I saw OS and not impressed.

Just starting to watch the game replay. The announcer's introduction perked up my ear. She said :

"For the first time since 1987, the most storied program in women's college basketball is visiting Oregon State."

Tennessee is still "the most storied program"? That is news to most of us, I suspect.

Get Ready to hear a Lady Vol Love Fest:)

Saw most of the second half. Here are my meanderings:

UT's away uniforms are intensely orange.

DD looked and moved way better than against Stanford.

To offer credit, it was a good win on the road for UT. They largely succeeded in keeping the ball away from Hamblin.

I'm no expert on offensive sets, so I couldn't quite discern what UT was doing. For awhile, it looked like the old Five Statues strategy, but it might have been the newer Remote Islands of Orange offense. I think it's fair to say it wasn't a motion offense.

UCONN would destroy either team right now.

Read a write-up somewhere earlier today that had Stanford and Tennessee as the "two most storied programs" in WCBB. I'd put Stanford at three or four.

Maybe we should do a thread on a Mt. Rushmore of storied programs.

You can't be the most storied program if you haven't won the most national championships. I think that is a prerequisite.

Wow! That was painful to watch. I don't think I've ever seen that many air balls especially by a team ranked #7.

and they are UConn (who they dont play) Notre Dame (not sure if they play them, dont follow their schedule), South Carolina, TAMU? Baylor(do they play them)

who else? I know UTenn lost a few games already but how many more do you predict they'll lose and against "top teir" teams?

Vols lead 35-18 at the half. Best Half of Basketball for the Vols. Mercedes Russell should play in Oregon more often as this has been her best game.
isnt that her home state? or somewhere around the Northwest

They play at ND, and they lucked out in their conference schedule by only playing South Carolina, Kentucky, and TAMU once.
