Wow, Tenne$$ee also appears to be getting $upport of athletic department and boo$ters.Yes this class will be great for this style of play.

Will be fun to see 'press and 3' executed with capable 3-point shooters.

Honestly, I‘m a little bit concerned. Stwainfan is a prolific poster and it’s not like them to disappear. Not what I consider trolling, but whatever. What are y'all trying to accomplish here? Aren't we a bit too old to troll?
Your "concern" seems to coincide with Tennessee losing a tough game to its in-state rival (whose coach just so happens to be an alum of the school you root for).Honestly, I‘m a little bit concerned. I’ve haven’t hidden that I am more than curious about how Tennessee‘s big experiment is going to work out. However, that doesn’t preclude having genuine concern when someone who usually is around suddenly isn’t. Thanks for assuming I’m a jerk, but you know what, I’m really not. Stuff like this is why I delete half the things I intend to post before I hit the button. It just isn’t worth it.Your "concern" seems to coincide with Tennessee losing a tough game to its in-state rival (whose coach just so happens to be an alum of the school you root for).
Also, I think you've been here long enough to know how to tell if someone has been away for a while or if they're lurking.
You've made multiple posts in this very thread indicating how skeptical you are of Kim Caldwell's system. That's perfectly fine. But please don't act as though you're "concerned" after seeing what you believe to be indicators of the system having a few bugs.

I thought it was good natured ribbing; plenty of room for that here.Well, I don' think you are a jerk. Stwainfan does disappear though. I feel like it's the same time every year. I believe he/she has said it's because of work.

yes I am thanks. I have been in a revial meetings.@stwainfan are you OK? No updates for the past few days and the Vols have some big games coming up.
with more players that fit this style. I will be fun to see how the team does next few years.Wow, Tenne$$ee also appears to be getting $upport of athletic department and boo$ters.

Me too...first legit test for Tennessee against a top 10 team. Win (or lose in another close loss) and I'll acknowledge them as a legit top 16 team. Lose and I'll still think they're on the outside looking in.I’m looking forward to the Texas game
Oldacre is a super rebounder but I think she’ll be gasping like a guppie after a quarterMe too...first legit test for Tennessee against a top 10 team. Win (or lose in another close loss) and I'll acknowledge them as a legit top 16 team. Lose and I'll still think they're on the outside looking in.
I expect a lot of chaos in this game with both teams wanting to win the turnover battle. Tennessee will have no answers for the Texas bigs, especially Oldacre, so I think that will be the differentiating factor.

How many times has she played against a team that presses an entire game? This will be her first. She is one of the VERY best rebounders in the game, but it’s difficult to carry that weight up and down the floor at full speed. When has that happened this season?

Oh, I think she’ll do well but I expect Vic to limit her minutes (and fouls) til end of the game crunch time when the Vols have shown their most vulnerability.

Maybe…but my thought is only if the Vols are able to create a high volume of turnovers. If Rory Harmon doesn’t turn it over and Texas shoots reasonably well, it won’t be as much of an up and down game. It will still be fast paced, but not frenetic. If that plays out, it will come down to the Vols shooting accuracy, particularly from three. I think the Vols need a very high volume of shots to score a lot of points and I’m not sure Texas will allow that.Oldacre is a super rebounder but I think she’ll be gasping like a guppie after a quarter
Was a good game, though losing so many close games has to be super frustrating for the team. Their lack of rebounding is what’s causing them to lose most of these games. All that said, I think things will come together for the Lady Vols and they’ll start winning some close ones. Getting a close win over UCONN would be a magnificent way to turn things aroundI personally like the result, but it must be really frustrating for Vol fans to lose such close games. I think when Caldwell gets a few more players that fit her style you guys are gonna be really tough. Sad/happy for that to happen.

Yes. While TN’s press can create absolute kaos for opposing teams, it also creates easy opportunities for drives to the basket, offensive rebounds and layups because TN’s defenders are frequently out of position. It will be interesting to see how UConn’s exceptional group of ball handling guards attack TN’s pressure defense. Two things…
First, the Vols press goes from crazy intense in the beginning to much less at the end. I think it lets them keep games close, but stops them from closing out. I don’t know if it’s because the players are tired or because they commit so many fouls at the beginning that they can‘t afford any more at the end.
Second, they look ragged and out of place in their half court zone defense. Just a guess, but they are spending so much energy trying to generate a turnover that they don’t play old fashioned defense.
