Tennessee season

The Lady Vols put up Grinnell College numbers! Paul Westhead and David Arseneault would be proud. And the scary part, they are just getting warmed up! They are in the early part of the season, still learning this system. Once they get adjusted and find a few more options to take advantage of, watch out SEC and NCAA tournament teams.
Seriously? They played an 0-12 team. I’m not saying the Vols won’t be good, but this was the equivalent of taking candy from a child and bragging about it. I’ll hold judgment until they play better competition.

Sorry--I can't get behind the merciless beatdown of a severely underfunded HBCU basketball program. It was nonsensical when LSU did it two weeks ago and it's nonsensical now.

Yall crazy. The hate is back! LMAO. I get that the competition was "fill in the blank", but a win is a win. Congrats Tenn.

Vols led 42-41 at half over 2-8 Memphis, but a strong 3rd quarter pushes them to the win

The Lady Vols could mess around and enter the SEC season undefeated. 3 winnable games before Texas A&M.

I would certainly think they could take the one at A&M too. I've been down to watch them a couple of times this year and they've got several leaks that still haven't been patched up.

Oh, I am sure that they could beat A&M. Anybody can get beat. Or A&M could mess around and shock us all and beat the Lady Vols. Anybody can get beat.

Next game is Friday against Richmond at WEST Palm Beach Classic.

I watched Tennessee for the first time last night. I’m really not being facetious, but there’s really no offense or defense - it’s just chaos. There is pressure, but if you get the ball past half court there’s people open all over the court. For the most part it’s just one on one bb. They drive it into the lane and shoot or kick out. That was all I saw. On defense it’s just one on one - no rotation or switching…if they get beat it’s a layup. Am I wrong?

Given their schedule so far, it’s difficult to know what to make of the Lady Vols. Their new HC has generated a lot of excitement among the faithful. But so far this year, their best wins were against an unranked FSU by 2 pts in Knoxville and vs IMO an overrated Iowa team at a neutral arena in Brooklyn.

TN next 4 games vs Richmond, Winthrop, Tulsa and TX A&M should all result in wins for the undefeated LV’s. But after that, “Cupcake Season” is over. OK, TX, LSU, SC, MS, UConn and even Vandy will present a challenging gauntlet that will determine whether TN is a contender or a pretender.

I can see why this team is leading the nation is scoring at 97.4 ppg.

I don’t expect Tennessee to keep up a 97ppg average through the SEC, but in a hypothetical situation, would that be the highest team scoring average ever? I’m thinking of the highest-octane teams we’ve had in recent years as the game has sped up (Iowa 23-24, Maryland 20-21, Notre Dame 18-19) and don’t think any of them were higher than 91 or 92.

I really like this style of play. I think when this is going right. That this style is hard to defend. Yes i don't expect to keep the 97ppg pace. The team can score against any team when it's going right.

The highest average ppg by an NCAA WBB team was by Providence in 1991 at 96.7 ppg. During the 2015-16 season, UConn lead the nation In both scoring offense (89 ppg) and scoring defense (48 ppg), going 38-0 while beating every single opponent by double digits. During that season, UConn set the all time record for scoring margin (40.6 ppg). During the 2014-15 season, UConn set the record for most points scored in a season at 3,481, averaging 89 ppg while going 38-1.
