Tennessee post season

That 18% 3FG speaks guard to me.
That was on pretty low volume at UCLA in a system that I'm not sure had great spacing for her to get open looks. She averaged more than double the attempts per game the previous season at TAMU and shot 34% from 3 (in addition to shooting 41% her freshman year on lower volume), so I'm hoping her season at UCLA was a blip and not the norm.

I think this year's team will be faster. It was 80 vs Uconn.
That may be true, and I sort of thank the Vols for showing them up. But, to their credit, the Huskies had the last laugh. Everyone knows this by now, but I’ll say it again.…. They beat three #1 seeds in the recent NCAA tournament, and hoisted the NC trophy!!

yes the lady vols look to be on the upswing...... good for them.... AD Danny White has greatly helped.... has taken a lot of the orange from their slant..... lot of wasted time on program betting on Holly and Kelly
Betting on Holly and Kelly made sense, so long as the goal was to maintain the team's vaunted identity. Caldwell's style is a complete 180. I can't think of a legacy program that has made such a radical departure from the tried and true. I don't think I would have had the chutzpah, as AD, to try it.

ya i think the pro LV stance had worn thin must be female must be from within the family on the Summit tree.... that helped support Dan White in his thinking

I didn't know much about Caldwell. Before she was hired as head coach. I looked at her record. It was impressive. A track record of success. Looking back on the first year at Tennessee. I think it was real good. Finishing in the top 15 in the country. Looking forward for year two.

I think Latham/Prawl get minutes and Whitehorn starts. I don’t think Tennessee starts 3 PGs either (Pauldo, Boyd, Cooper).

Less sold on Mya Paulson and Jada Civil cracking the 10 man rotation with the depth in the backcourt.

My prediction:

Starters:
Boyd
Cooper
Whitehorn
Barker
Spearman

Rotation 2:
Mia Pauldo
Nya Robertson
Deniya Prawl
Alyssa Latham
Jersey Wolfenbarger

A lot of different combinations possible. I think it will change at times. I think the twins will play together some.

yes i am with you on not knowing much about her before but my faith in AD was great for his track record if good by him then good by me!

well the future looks bright for them

Well football team made the playoffs. Both basketball teams made sweet 16. How many other schools can say that?
How many other schools can say that the men's or women's basketball teams won the last 3 national championships?
I’m far from a TN fan, but both things can be true and impressive. stwainfan celebrates TN accomplishments, and most of us on this board celebrate UConn accomplishments. Great for sports and women’s sports especially.

For the record, Tennessee Lady Vol basketball was 6th in attendance this year with 10,647 per game, up from 8,880 last year and 8,150 the year before. The last time Tennessee was above 10K was 2015-16 at 10,412 so that is good.

SC was #1 (again) at 17,028
Iowa was #2 at 14,998
UConn was #3 12,854
Indiana #4 10,828
LSU #5 10,696

More telling is the road attendance
SoCal was #1 at 10, 795, call it the Juju effect
UConn #2 8,312, call this the Paige effect
SC #3 8,090, call this the king of the mountain effect

Tennessee was 20th at 5,444 so they aren't the "exciting" team that you think they are, nor are they as relevant as you are trying to hype them as. Tennessee was 8-8 in their last 16 regular season games (and 8-8 in conference play). Congrats on making the Sweet 16 for the 5th time since 2008, to go along with your 5 Elite 8 appearances. In the mean time, UCONN has appeared in 31 straight Sweet 16's, 16 of the last 17 Final Fours and won 7 titles since your last win in 2008. But yeah, we are all excited for you....

I agree. However, I just think when you are on an opposing fans forum celebrating everything Tennessee (which, btw, I do think there's a lot to celebrate), that you should also have some positive comments about the home team...especially given UConn's HUGE accomplishment this year. When I am posting on VolNation, I always give their team praise, especially this past year. Phenomenal job by Caldwell and crew!

That was the first year under Coach Caldwell. A lot has changed since she took over. Recruiting both portal and high school has improved. Harper didn't do get getting high school recruits. Caldwell also introduced a new style of play. I think this years team will be better at. Considering where Tennessee was a year ago. I say a phenomenal job by Caldwell. Congrats on the championship.

I couldn’t have said it better myself. Thanks. ;)

Buuuut, this is in the general forum, under a Tennessee thread.

‘What you’re asking is kind of ridiculous really.

I suppose. Guess we're the only ones that do this as I know VolNation would never have a uconn thread. Carry on.

I believe you are. There’s the UConn board, where there’s no information about other schools and where general fans are pretty respectful that it’s a UConn board. Then there’s this board - the general forum, where most teams that have a lot of posters here have their own thread…SC, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Duke, etc. I think I speak for all of us when I say this board is greatly appreciated. We all contribute to the general forum. When we want to congratulate UConn we “generally” go to the UConn forum.
