Wasnt it Dawn that cancelled the mat hup this year
Neither cancelled. The contract expired and conference season expanded for both teams. They simply did not renew.

Scheduled to meet in early season tournaments the next two years.

I can’t speak for another poster. However, the rumor is that the Players Era Tournament offered the entire Final Four group from last year but UConn turned it down. I’m certainly not accusing Geno of cowardliness but one wonders why given the NIL money involved.

Again, this is based only on a rumor and I concede that Geno has always proven UConn to play a top notch schedule. It could just be that Geno just doesn’t believe in playing on Thanksgiving or many other reasons.
Are you implying that UCONN deliberately dodged playing a top team that can make a run?

.-.
I don't think she is expecting any of them to leave. She does understand that players transfer. She is right if they all stay. They can be a special group.

I've just never heard a coach say that in season.

I would hope not. UConn already had committed to 4 neutral site games (Louisville, Michigan, Utah and Iowa). They were in no position to add 2 more. Six neutral site games is unheard of.

She said it twice.

I know the portal is really challenging for coaches but it's very odd for a coach to talk during the season about the possibility of any players not staying, particularly freshmen.
Sounds like there’s some grumbling. TBH…I would be out the door with her process for picking different starters each game. I mean you have an ok game, one which the game may have demanded no less,... AND you don’t start because of that ONE game and not your performance in the other ten before that? Bye, Felicia.

Seems like everyone's schedule but Duke's was weaker than usual this year (I imagine it's the added expense of paying players), but S. Carolina usually plays 7 or so neutral + true games a year in the non-conference.

Last year it was 5 neutral and road trips to UCLA and Clemson.

There was one season I recall where 4 of first 5 were away from home

I like that stuff but it's less fun when you lose some of them.

Why is a Tennessee thread turning into a UConn thread?
