Ok Vol fans - how are yall feeling about game 1 in Greensboro? Anyone care to offer a brief scouting report of what to expect from the Vols? Perceived strengths and weaknesses of the team this year?
I read where yall hammered chapel hill in a scrimmage, not sure what we can take away from that if anything (other than it’s always fun when chapel hill gets put in their place even if it’s a scrimmage).
As a State fan I’ve heard Wes talking about the game a little and being concerned about full court pressure and aggressive defense from the Vols. IMO State is a little over ranked to start the season. I think State could very well end up top 10 by years end, but there will be some bumps and a learning curve to get there. Losing 60% of your starters, 2 of them to the WNBA and the other playing pro ball overseas - that’s not easy to overcome. State has talent, but one of the main cogs is a transfer who yall probably are more familiar with than I am, but it’ll take some time to get the chemistry and roles right IMO.
Zoe and Zam should make for a nice backcourt for the Pack but this will be brand new roles for both. Zoe has plenty of experience but has not been asked to be the lead dog before so the pressure is on her shoulders for the first time. Zam has less experience and has been a nice spark off the bench as a freshman, but how does she do transitioning to a starting role and a lead role?
I fully expect State’s defense to be a weakness, especially early in the season.

I am excited to see this team. Especially the freshman class. Tennessee i think will be more athletic this year. I think the press can be more effective. I think the addition of Barker and Wolfenbarger will add a lot. I can't wait to this team play. The first look is Wednesday night a exhibition game. The game against NC State will tell us a lot about both teams.

I think TN is probably low in some polls I’ve seen. Wolfenbarger IMO isn’t going to move the needle with her inside nor outside play. Barker is up and down depending on her mind state not her physical talents. Her issue at times is composure. That’s an absolute MUST at this level.

Well I think this staff gets more out of the players. Look at Spearman at Miami compared to at Tennessee.
