While I'm not a huge fan of all this hoopla over announcement events, I do chuckle at the implied notion that no UConn player has ever wanted some attention.

Didn't UConn hold off on announcing Tahirah Williams verbal just so Renee could be the first ? Methinks if that happened at another school, this board would have deriding Renee as a primadonna, etc.

I don't think UConn has ever announced an oral commitment as that would be an NCAA violation.

Not really. I just don't like it no matter who does it for what team - UConn and all collegiate sports included. If LeBron James wants to do it, fine he's a pro, but now we have 16 year olds basically emulating The Decision every other week.
