Taya Reimer to Transfer

Unless Geno brings in a post player (that's under the radar) we don't know about yet, or he brings in a JUCO, Butler will be the only post player on the roster. If he doesn't trust Butler now (in big games), how is he going to trust her next year?
I know Geno and staff are aware of this dynamic, and probably have something in the works. In Geno we trust.

If anyone has any ideas on this, or has heard something in the wind, I'm listening.
I've not heard anything, but I can't help wondering if he's got "something in the works," as you say.

Several weeks ago someone here reported that someone reported that UConn had offered Imovbioh. I'm skeptical--that seems incongruous with Geno's philosophy. But necessity is the mother of exception.

That is the last thing in the world that would ever happen- Ever! We recruited her. She never improved. She quit how many times?

The chances of her coming to UConn are less than your chance of winning the multi-state Mega Lottery and only buying 1 ticket. She's not coming to Storrs!!

Fear not, there are plenty of D-1 programs that others have already suggested in this thread, that would gladly send a limo to South Bend to pick her up, and welcome her (or anyone else they think would help their program) with open arms, even if for only 1 year. Remember, a lot of coaches are not as picky as Geno. Even decent bigs are in limited supply.

That would be odd indeed. Not only the whole bit about proactively recruiting a one-year player, but also recruiting Imovbioh - an athletic high motor / low post type - onto this year's team when there was no indication that we specifically needed that this year. (the team already had Gabby, a pre-hand injury Butler that Geno was quite positive about, and Stewie/Tuck).

Taya Reimer is headed to Transfer? Is there yet another UT like Tennessee or Texas? There was already temple and Tulsa.
University of Tampa, University of Toledo

KLS will have to play BIG along with Collier... and that Aja Wilson miss was huge, along with whomever else

.-.
My last two cents on this...

Obviously, any team thinking about taking on Reimer would have to do their due diligence regarding why she is leaving ND and make sure that she is capable of fully committing to her new team.

That being said, I think she would be an asset to the vast majority of teams in the country.

She has good size and is sturdy enough to battle power post players (e.g. Alaina Coates). She has big game experience. She has played for a top coach who runs a sophisticated offense and multiple defenses. She has a reliable shot out to about 15 feet. She has above-average shot-blocking ability for a power forward.

Her overall shooting efficiency, rebounding ability, and passing are not great but neither are they terrible for her position. Overall, she has a well-rounded, if not spectacular game. At the end of last year, she was playing really well and demonstrating significant improvement.

I think there's reason to believe that we've yet to see how good she can truly be when she's on a team where she feels comfortable and happy.

I forgot which game it was, but a court side reporter said that she talked to Imovbioh about what it's like transferring to a new school. One of the things Imovbioh mentioned was that she had several offers from D1 schools, but UCONN and SC were her best offers. Imovbioh doesn't seem like the lying type but maybe the reporter was confused... there is a language barrier.

Updated 2013 Top 15 kids list:
1 Mercedes Russell-still at UT, redshirted
2 Kaela Davis-transfer
3 Diamond DeShields-transfer
4 Taya Reimer-transfer
5 Linnae Harper-transfer
6 Rebecca Greenwell-still at Duke, redshirted
7 Allisha Gray-transfer
8 Jannah Tucker-transfer
9 Tyler Scaife-still at Rutgers
10 Oderah Chidom-still at Duke
11 Erica McCall-still at Stanford
12 Kendall Cooper-still at Duke
13 Ronni Williams-still at FL
14 Jessica Washington-transfer
15 Lexie Brown-transfer

Others (I'm sure I'm missing several):
19 Ieshia Small-transfer
23 Stephanie Mavunga-transfer
31 Imani Wright-transfer
32 Kianna Holland-transfer
35 Shayla Cooper-transfer

Pretty crazy that 6 top 10 kids will have transferred. After this year, I wouldn't be stunned to see UT players and Duke players shuffle around some more.

Wow. Seems like there isn't a home run so far from the lot: maybe McCall as the best to this point? Maybe. Wonder who's everyone's pick from this list to have the most successful college career? Most successful pro career?

There is not a single WCBB team with the possible exception of South Carolina that Taya would not start for next year. Good luck to her. The word transfer is being used but the fact that ND is allowing her to complete her degree and her tweet kind of hints at anything but a transfer. Could it be possible that she is just burnt out and done with basketball? Don't see ND allowing her to complete her degree and becoming immediately eligible to possibly play against ND.

Interesting questions. Most successful college Career=Kelsey Plum breaking PAC 10 records and on pace to make AA team this year.
Most successful pro career=Jessica Jackson at Arkansas as a future WNBA big wing. She is long and does everything well good defender also.

In the four games I've seen Plum play this year, she has not shown me a lot. Yes, she can put up lots of points and has a nice outside shot and good range- but only when she's not well-guarded. She forces up tons of bad shots, she's ALL left-handed, she lacks top-guard quickness, and she is not a good defender (she's 'soft').

She's the kind of kid who will have great career offensive NCAA numbers but will struggle mightily to have any chance of a professional career. (I think.)

Ronni Williams is Florida's leading scorer, as she was last year as a sophomore. She didn't get any love in the SEC preseason awards but maybe by season's end she'll take the place of one of the Tennessee players on the list.

Here's something I posted elsewhere on the subject. The best recruits from that class were outside the top 20. (Bear in mind that I posted this a month ago so the stats aren't accurate anymore):

25. Lindsay Allen, Notre Dame (9.1 ppg, 5.4 apg, 4.3 rpg, 2.3 A/TO ratio)
26. Kelsey Plum, Washington (27.3 ppg, 4.1 apg, 3.9 rpg)
27. Adriene Motley, Miami (15.9 ppg, 3.8 rpg, 2.9 apg, 50.2 FG%, 40.8 3FG%)
28. Alaina Coates, South Carolina (12.9 ppg, 9.3 rpg, 1.7 bpg, 69.6 FG%)
43. Shatori Walker-Kimbrough, Maryland (17.8 ppg, 5.3 rpg, 3.3 apg, 2.1 spg, 54.8 FG%, 57.7 3FG%)
52. Nina Davis, Baylor (16.6 ppg, 5.7 rpg, 2.4 apg, 1.3 spg, 57.3 FG%)
55. Brionna Jones, Maryland (14.4 ppg, 9.1 rpg, 69.1 FG%)
69. Ally Disterhoft, Iowa (16.7 ppg, 5.6 rpg, 3.1 apg, 53.4 FG%, 36.2 3FG%)
74. Jessica January, DePaul (13.6 ppg, 6.0 apg, 4.9 rpg 2.4 a/to ratio)
80. Sydney Wiese, Oregon State (injured now but career 13.5 ppg, 4.8 apg, 3.5 rpg, 1.67 a/to ratio)
85. Brittany Brown, Florida State (10.4 rpg, 4.7 apg, 3.4 spg, 1.9 a/to ratio)
92. Alexis Peterson, Syracuse (14.9 ppg, 5.6 apg, 3.4 rpg, 2.9 spg, 2.4 a/to ratio)

Brionna Jones and Shatori Walker-Kimbrough were underrated.

Brionna is leading the nation, I believe, at .669 shooting. She also averages 9.7 rpg.

Shatori is a bit turnover prone, with 92 in 26 games, but she can shoot lights out: .564 overall, an insane .573 from the arc that leads the nation, and .798 from the line.

I'm not a Maryland fan but I do like high-percentage shooters.

Yes. Well as Coco said most successful COLLEGE career. I've no reason to doubt that analysis. But that Jackson lady is something special. It's a shame she never went to a program with a higher profile.

You do know that Nigeria is an English-speaking country, right? You are also aware that Virginia is referred to as one of the "Public Ivies" for its academic excellence, right? Perhaps you meant that the reporter was not fluent in English.

I'm aware of both. I meant what I said. Also, just because you speak the same language doesn't mean you're aware of every single intricacy and colloquialism in that particular dialect. There are differences between American English and British English.. oftentimes just as simple as particular words used to describe certain things. That's an example of a language barrier, a minor one at that.

With Nigeria being a former British colony there are even subtle grammatical differences in SPOKEN Nigerian English and British English. English is the official government language in Nigeria, but it's not the FIRST language for a lot of Nigerians. There a lots of quirks and expressions we use in American English that a non-native speaker just will not pick up on unless being told, that's also a language barrier.

No idea what UVA has to do with your point, but I'm aware of their Public Ivy status as well.

So you are telling me there is a chance?

Yes, these always a chance. Stranger things have happened. That being said...............Based on the things we've heard Geno say during his numerous interviews over the years on the type of players he likes, and the qualities he looks for in a potential recruit, I'd be shocked if he offered Reimer a scholarship (even more schocked if she accepted). Shocked to the point of needing immediate medical attention.

There is less than ZERO chance that Geno would take reamer on - why, lots of reasons, but Numero Uno is Muffet McG and the increasingly strange relationship they have. Why drop this into it and for what. Not to confuse, she could be Number 1 at her position and he wouldn't bite.

I was being facetious. It's hard not to inject some humor in to this because the thought is so laughable. I don't know who gave birth to this possibility anyway. Probably someone with a very vivid imagination, or a very twisted and sick sense of humor. Trust me, we are of the same mind on this one. ;)
