Tarris Reed | Page 4 | The Boneyard

Tarris Reed

I always adopt a favorite nba team based on my fav players, so it was Boston in the past and Charlotte as well…I adopted the Spurs when they took Castle and I’m a TINY bit annoyed that they’re this good already for that reason, it’s looking like I’m a bandwagon jumper but they were awful when I took them on, lol
The only games I bother looking at are Portland, SA and Memphis. I'd check in more often with NO & Milwaukee if Ajx & Hawkins played.

I know, I know Illinois is a "cOmPLeTeLy diFfeRent" team now, but they didn't need his A game to beat Illinois in November
No team is playing their best basketball in November, it would be foolish to think that result carries much weight into this match up. Hurley and staff will most likely look at that game tape, but they will definitely look more at what Illinois has done the last few weeks.

Tarris has been the only consistent performer on UConn since the first game of the Big East Tournament. His play has a positive multiplier effect on everyone else. Could you UConn win without Tarris's best? Maybe, but I don't want to find that out. The perimeter shooting has not been reliable.

Nice article on Reed from Dave Borges. Long but worth a read if you have some time today (you might be able to read without the alternate access link).

"When he's locked in and got a little nastiness to him and asserts himself and plays to his identity and is motivated to the max, this is what he does," Hurley said. "This is why we brought him here. People have seen this in him since he was a high school prospect. And now he's starting to put it all together, at the right time."

The RuffRuff Alternate Access™:
Tarris Reed Jr. began March Madness with chip on his shoulder. Now he’s UConn’s best player.

I know everyone is talking about Tarris playing with a “nastiness”, but what I’ve seen is a guy playing with tremendous joy. Two things can be right at the same time. I’ve just really appreciated the joy, happiness, and smiles out of Tarris in all the games, post game interviews, and social media spots in the last 2 weeks

Joy, and confidence.

He’s kind of like Newton in that way. His personality type is very different than Hurley’s and what he normally looks for, but he’s showing there can be a place for it.

…also think he has taken a much more aggressive, grizzly bear type approach 😀

He’s certainly having fun. And, in the press conference he seemed to enjoy teasing coach about how he’s not supposed to jump passing lanes and steal for breakaway dunks.

If Tarris could develop a Mullins step back 2 or an AK floater for 2 he’d get many millions more

I changed shirts into my Tarris hoodie at halftime vs. Dook because he seemed to be the only one who showed up. You're welcome. 😉

Look at all the plays on both ends, given the circumstances and stakes involved one of the best UConn performances of all time

Wow!

Wow!
Of the hundred videos I've watch a thousand times in the last week, i haven't seen this before. Holy crap what a Monster game. Tarris is why we are on the final four.

.-.
Is there a past college player with a similar play style to Tarris? I feel like there might have been a 90s player or two with a similar game? But, maybe with less moves? It feels like he is coming out with something new every game or two.

Early in the year there were some jokes from Hurley about how Tarris was dying to take some three pointers. Obviously not his role for UConn but I wonder if he might surprise us in his pro career.
