Tarris Reed Jr Out vs Arizona

To be honest, I didn’t consider it a “break” when we played BYU - I am consistent in this belief.

Switching to football, look at what happened to Syracuse when QB went down - they over there are sulking.

If Joe F goes down for injury - hopefully not - but if he did we’ve got Evers to step right in. Now excuses, play the game.

All of this shouldn’t be taken to seriously as this is just “fan talk” there is not right/wrong belief.

But for me I don’t like the whole concept of alluding to what could have been - you’ve got to be ready as a team for injuries - cut/dry.
Not really apples to apples. In high level football, losing a QB is essentially game over. Most NFL teams don’t even have a great starter let alone a good backup. Basketball you can get creative with a missing piece for a few games but not long term.

People like to say "no excuses" and stuff like that because it sounds stoic or whatever, but in reality, if a team is missing one of its best players because of an injury, it's a break for the other team. I don't understand the mentality of pretending every player has equal ability, and that injuries don't impact a team's performance. What is UConn supposed to do now, pretend that they don't have answers down low and go out and recruit a center? Gee, I hear Tarris Reed will be available soon. Maybe we should try to sign him.
People say this these days because they hear it regarding Football all the time. Football is a contact, violent sport where injuries are part of the game, where having quality depth is a must. Basketball is not nearly as physical and injuries aren't really a huge factor when comparing. So when they do happen, it really causes a drop in talent, size, experience, etc.
