Tarris GTD

"seems to be getting a bit frustrated"

If he's that injured, why would a coach be frustrated and say he has to get himself on the court?
Because he's our best player and he's frustrated he can't play. He was also frustrated Mullins couldn't play up until now. He desperately wants them healthy and his team at 100%.

Because he wants him to play

Hurley would not suggest a player could play but doesn’t want to play to the media—even if that were the case. Did you not see his quote about him playing in the Illinois game?!

Interesting comments for the coach to say publicly. Maybe there's a tinge of "playing hurt vs injured" in there.

I guess you could take it to mean that Reed isn't doing what he needs to get himself healthy, which is different from "he could play but isn't willing".

What is Reed not doing to get himself healthy?

Look, we all saw Reed last time out. He was not himself. He had a very tough time. He didn't move like he is capable.

Hurley's comments are hard to understand without really knowing what is going on with Reed. It might be something about how the kid is rehabbing. We don't know why he said what he said.

Patience. More will come out in the next pre-game chat.

When did it become ankle and knee?
I was confused by that also. Borges said knee but earlier in the article he wrote this:

Reed was sidelined for the third time in the Huskies' last four games by an ankle issue.

So is it both or was Borges just confused and misspoke in what he wrote in my other post about the knee?

We don't know, but it's the only somewhat logical implication of Hurley's statement. The whole "soft" thing continues to be a stretch.

In fairness though Hurley doesn’t tell us anything about injured players until the guys are ready. So while you and others could be right in your assumptions, Deep could as well based on how you take Danny speaking up “needing him to get on the court” and being frustrated he’s not.

We wil hear something eventually but either way, we need him in the lineup battling. I am dying to see him and Reibe on the court together in certain matchups.

I'm dying to see a opposing centers, breathing a sigh of relief as Reed goes to the bench only to look up and see Eric coming in.

I remember watching one of the post games and Hurley said hurt ankle and knee. But I’m old and have drunken too many beers in my life to be certain of anything.

Is Tarris officially a no-go for tonight’s game vs ETAM?
is it Game Time, yet?
I think we will know more in 20 minutes.
Also, most likely not. They will rest him and he will probably be good to go for match up with Florida.

The staff has done an excellent job of navigating through our schedule with an emerging Reibe and some creative rotations while trying to get Mullins and Reed back on the court. Mullins is back and Reed is trending towards no minutes restriction. Danny may appear frustrated with Reed's situation but he has to be giddy about Reibe's development and progress. 7-1 record . He's just being safe with Reed's health and playing the long game with him. Hope he can give us some meaningful minutes next Tuesday/Friday. Primetime games.

UConn men’s basketball starting center Tarris Reed, Jr. will sit out Friday’s game against East Texas A&M University with an ankle injury.

The news was confirmed by UConn Director of Men’s Basketball Communications Bobby Mullen, who said his status remains game-to-game.

If he wasn’t ready to play in last night’s tune up, I have a hard time believing he will be ready for tougher competition next week. This situation smells like he will be out until the new year and when he comes back he won’t be 100%.
