Have y ever had a serious ankle injury? If it’s weak, there is nothing you can do. It’s way more than just a pain tolerance issue
Is it serious? He played on it? Came back two weeks ago on it? Nothing points to that.

I like how we're normalizing the fact that we ought to go undefeated or close to it in conference play, so that when we don't we can have full-on meltdowns. Good planning.
I was thinking the same. You would think everyone on here has been through enough Big East seasons to know no matter how bad you think the conference is there are wars every game. The Huskies are not getting a cake walk through a 19-1 season. Just isn't happening.

Let him heal and get Reibe more experience- those are win-wins. Reed just isn’t physically ready to play. The chances are real that he might injure himself again & perhaps more severely. Reibe at 100% is better than Reed at 50%. An injured Reed does not increase the chances to beat Florida. It just doesn’t make sense to me to have Reed risk further injury if he is not physically at 100%.
How the frick do you know that Reed isn't ready physically? Are you the team doctor or trainer?

.-.

They'll be favored in every single game other than @StJ. And even in that case, it may be close. We're currently up 5pts on them in the KP and MSG is Storrs South.

We won't sweep, but it's as good a season as ever to do that. In 2024 we went 18-2, lost at a very good Creighton that year and our usually stinker, without Steph/banged up Cling at SHU. This team is much deeper than 2024.

This team isn't as good as that team, but the league isn't nearly as good as that year either. Creighton, Marquette were both S16 teams.

Could be some traps this year against our "mid" teams like Nova, but we are so much better than them if fully healthy.

Did you see how he played on it ?
Yes - but he played on it. And after that game, Hurley said he played about a week before it would be ready. It's now 1.5 weeks. This is literally the only game we may need him in 1.5 months.

at Providence, at Marquette, at Georgetown -- those teams stink! Just mark them down as wins already. Right?

Did you see how limited he was in Illinois game...it obviously bothered him.
Did he practice on it before that Illini match? If he did, what happened between the staff thinking he was ready for a run of any time vs knowing that he had to come out. I would think that practice would be just as physical as a game but even more so when they don't call fouls during practice.
This is a puzzling situation but obviously the training people feel he needs more time. Of any non-conference game this season, UConn needs a serviceable Read vs Florida, but, if he can't go, UConn will have to hope that Reibe can hold his own and Stewie comes up big on the boards. Beat Florida without Read and this team will be full of great mojo - lose and it still doesn't mean doomsday is approaching.

This doesn't seem as complicated as people are making it out...He tried to give it a go against Illinois, and he was very limited. Whether he practiced before the game is irrelevant. I would seriously doubt he did.

After the game, in seeing his limitations, the dr/coaches/player decided he needed time off to heal properly. He practiced last 2 days, and they are going to see how he feels today.

Playing an re aggravating it by playing too soon is probably the worst thing you can do. Didn't any of you play sports growing up?

Reed at 60-70% with just with his presence alone is better than no Reed at all. He has to play tonight We got to get these last two non conference wins cause then it could be cupcake city once the big east starts -as we all know it’s not as strong as it usually is. Not cupcake city - but u know what I mean. I know it’s nitpicking, but it’s really going to bother me if our only loss this year is to Arizona by four points without Reed and Mullins —that’ll be a shame. This team is good enough to run thru the big east - as of now Who cares if he starts in two weeks against DePaul? We need him now for the next 4 days. Then rest him for the next month. I know I’m talking a little bit crazy but seriously. Can u give us 12-15 mins tonight and Friday? Then he can rest till the nfl playoffs start for all I care. lol
If his ankle is bad, that 12 to 15 minutes could wind up with him knocked out for the rest of the season

So you think not putting your best players on the court and losing to these P4 teams, is the better way to go. Hmmm, never considered that brilliance.
You don't put them on court if they're injured.
And who cares about P4 conferences, anyway?

Other than the fact that he was basically a statue in that game and probably shouldn't have been out there.

Tell us more about your old ankle injuries when you played club sports.

Him practicing the past couple days is definitely a good sign. Clearly you seem to think he didn’t practice before Illinois. So in theory maybe we’ll see him tonight, let’s all hope. Thanks for the insight on your injuries playing club sports growing up. SMH

If I’m a betting man, of which I am, I’m betting Reed plays 15-20 minutes and Mullins plays 30. This is a nationally televised game, Hurley and all the players know the importance of this game

How does my seeing how limited he was, which most people here agree with, have anything to do with anything other than his health. Whether I played Lax in college or not is irrelevant.

We all saw how limited he was. However, if he’s practicing hopefully he plays tonight. You’re not reinventing the wheel here. And yes, you playing lacrosse is completely irrelevant lol. It’s almost 2 weeks from the Illinois game so maybe he’ll give it a go. Hence gtd

After Texas we have:

Home Butler
Away Xavier
Home Marquette
Away PC
Home DePaul

That takes us through Jan 13. Then we have the Seton Hall away game, then away at Gtown.

Those first 5 games should be layups. That is over a month for Tarris to nurse back in limited minutes. He better go today.

You sound…not intelligent.

Look if this was a serious ankle injury he would have red shirted.

It’s not garden variety but while tennis gave me some ankle issues I was 6’1” 160 in playing days not Reed’s height and weight so to each their own.

I expect based on what I have seen that he is available for tonight and his ankle will be taped so we should see about 65% healthy Reed for maybe 15 minutes at worst.

Why, because he’s just rambling? Everyone is an expert on injuries because they played sports when they were younger. Am I an expert because I played college hockey 20 years ago? Definitely not! If he’s ready to go he’ll play. I understand people’s frustration because this is a pretty important week being that our conference isn’t great this year. Anyway, thanks for your input.

It might be a down year for the Big East, but outside of DePaul, none of those are layups. We will get every team's best effort. And this will be their Super Bowl when we visit Xavier and PC. I expect those to be difficult environments to play in.
I think we win all 5, but I also think we will be challenged in at least a couple of them. There are no easy Big East games -- even when he conference is down.

I agree with you that we will be marked targets, but PC & Xavier are bad teams. We should never lose a home game in league this year.
