I love everything about this article. This team is about to be coached. This kid will reinforce the culture change while being part of the roster.

Veteran leadership, setting the example, the standard for hard work and team morale, team play. I'm sure this is a huge part of why Hurley brought Tarin to UConn. Looking forward to seeing how he plays on the court, how he fits into team offense/defense.

I feel like we've had a full offseason's worth of action so far, and it's only June. These five months are going to be tough.

Smith isn't a scrub he led the dukes in assists as a soph, was A-10 6th man of the year last year averaging close to 13 a game and defends like a dog. Our back court is going to be really good with JA, AG, CV, Smittee. Our front court is what worries me.

It's nice that he was working on his ball handling. But what I want to know is JA working on his ball handling?

Many have referred to AA as basically a bust and busted on KO for bringing someone in from A10 with vanilla stats
T Smith seems like a great kid and I am pleased he wants to be a member of the UConn team, but to me, this is AA Part II
AA had some good games at UConn, I hope we see the same and more from Smith!

Let's compare:

A Anderson: T Smith

MPG 25.5 25.0
FG% .413 .408
3P% .329 .329
FT% .679 .648
REB 1.8 2.7
Asst 2.75 2.3
STL 1.2 0.9
TO 2.26 1.7
PPG 8.00 8.50

Both played in the A10 and both were used in basically the same manner.

They seem to be statistical clones of each other. If you read the article you are hoping for more than Antoine from Smith and I hope that proves true. We need a reliable 3 point shooter and these numbers are frankly not good. Good defenders are always a plus.

As long as he’s better than A. Anderson, man was that guy awful this past year, never seen such a bad shooting slump, it looked like Jay Bruce at the plate...

Never felt like he wasn't trying though.

I don't know how anyone can say anything negative about Antoine. Sure he struggled but the kid played as hard as any Husky of the last decade. If he was used as originally conceived before the injuries, who knows what his value might have been. I'm hoping Tarinm can provide defensive leadership like Antoine in a 3 guard lineup and occasionally make some plays when either Jalen, CV & AG are taking a breather. If he does that, I'll be thrilled. If he does more, I'll be ecstatic.

He was not terrible, played good D and generally did the things he was expected to do. What he wasn't expected to do: play more than 15 minutes a game, score. Yet our former HC decided to stick with his favored 3 guard lineup even though we only had 3 guards, and two of them were pretty limited, especially Anderson. He would have been a nice player if used correctly. I liked him.
