I think any team with a star that can create her own shot and shots for others is potentially a dangerous one. And that's exactly what Kentucky has with Mathies. If she catches fire, it could turn into a difficult game.

I found this to be an interesting stat: Only one player on Kentucky's entire roster has a positive assist/TO ratio (Amber Smith), while 6 of Uconn's top 8 have more assists than turnovers.

So, in your eyes Mathies is a star who can create shots for others but does not have a positive A/TO ratio?

Im not worried at all about KU. We will get the ball inside and they wont. They will get in foul trouble inside and we wont. We can play a matchup zone and they cant go inside. It will be like cutting the wings off a fly. They will run around but cant go very far. We will have a game plan to break their pressure and we will keep the ball in the middle of the floor. Dont forget we are quick too. I expect Stef and Kiah to have big games and Samarie to be in foul trouble before the 1st half ends. I believe UConn will win the NC this year.

Something else to think about and we havent heard much about it. Tenn upsetting Baylor noteing Pats last stand and what ESPN has been wanting for the past few years, one more time Geno vs Pat. Im not saying it will happen, but just dont count it out.

A lot like what I'm thinking too. Our mad dog tight defense can get us into foul trouble, like the 1st half against PS. But against KY I think we will get them in foul trouble especially on the inside.

Gotcha. I was cooking dinner when I have heard that comment. But it certainly sounded to me like Burke was trying to stir up some dirt with the way she presented it.

I did like the way Walker deflected the question about the UCONN game by saying that she just wanted to enjoy the victory over TAMU.

I don't get how 85th in the nation is respectable when you're playing a top seed.

85th is in the top quarter of teams in the nation (around 340 teams). If that's terrible to you, just think of all the other poor suckers that are much much worse. Among those poor suckers are some hopelessly terrible cases for Sweet 16 teams St. John's (28.3%, 217th) and South Carolina (27.6%, 225th). Perhaps with figures like those they shouldn't have been allowed in the tourney if we are really going to get all sweaty about 3-pt FG%. Back in 2010, an undefeated UConn team was 55th in 3-pt FG%, which must be on the border of terrible if 85th is the pits. This year UConn is 43rd in turnovers. How does that rate for adjectives?

Like I said, the small differences in 3-pt FG% don't amount to a ton of points. Even if KY had a percentage that was 2 percent better and therefore climbed to a more respectable 40th place ranking, even if they were two shoot that much better in a potential 3 games, it would amount to one more basket. I don't know, but 1 ppg is not a stupendous amount.

But if you want to call KY terrible, then give Stanford the boot into ugly-a-- horrible-borribles, because they're 114th at 31.4%. And they're a top seed. Yow. But let's give KY credit for a full 32.1% and not axe their last game, because if Brittney Griner was suddenly to block 15 shots in her next game, it might be well above her season's average but I think it would still be incredibly relevant to her next opponent.

I could see all those makes being a bad thing for KY. Maybe just a dose of fools gold. The 3 pointer is not their game and the success of yesterday may lead to more attempts then they should take. Many of the shots were wide open against a team that could not get out on them, just as PSU saw, UConn will be there to contest.

LOL, if a team's stats are going to be judged as to how they stack up against UConn, then indeed just about every team can be labelled as horrible I guess. And even among the top seeds, there are a few horrible stats here and there then. I concede that KY is a horrible team on that basis.

Your 20 pick was very close. Teams average 19.3 points under their season's average against UConn this season, so KY should be at around 55 on Tuesday if the same trend holds. No team of course scored above their season's average against UConn, but USF was very close at -2, and SJU and ND both were at -5 in one of their games against the Huskies. Teams that were the most flustered (discounting any home\away factor) were Nova (-34), Dayton (-32), KSU (-31), FDU (-30), and Duke (-30).

Samarie had some serious personal issues to deal with, but she tried to tough it out for a semester, and realized she just couldn't do it. so my point is, while the players may be disappointed a top 10 recruit chose to transfer mid season, i'd bet they don't have any animosity towards her.[/quot
