85th is in the top quarter of teams in the nation (around 340 teams). Did you consider SOS, KY vs. UCONN? High scoring teams regularly score well below their average against us, way below. See our defensive stats percentages, ppg, etc. If that's terrible to you, just think of all the other poor suckers that are much much worse. Among those poor suckers are some hopelessly terrible cases for Sweet 16 teams St. John's (28.3%, 217th) and South Carolina (27.6%, 225th). But they don't have to play UCONN tomorrow night..Perhaps with figures like those they shouldn't have been allowed in the tourney if we are really going to get all sweaty about 3-pt FG%. Back in 2010, an undefeated UConn team was 55th in 3-pt FG%, which must be on the border of terrible It is for UCONN. if 85th is the pits. This year UConn is 43rd in turnovers. How does that rate for adjectives? Poor for UCONN, not others.
Like I said, the small differences in 3-pt FG% don't amount to a ton of points. Even if KY had a percentage that was 2 percent better and therefore climbed to a more respectable 40th place ranking, even if they were two shoot that much better in a potential 3 games, it would amount to one more basket. I don't know, but 1 ppg is not a stupendous amount. You betcha, when we win by 20!
But if you want to call KY terrible, (I didn't, just not respectable against a #1). then give Stanford the boot into ugly-a-- horrible-borribles, because they're 114th at 31.4%. And they're a top seed. Yow. But let's give KY credit for a full 32.1% and not axe their last game, because if Brittney Griner was suddenly to block 15 shots in her next game, it might be well above her season's average but I think it would still be incredibly relevant to her next opponent.
