I don’t care about balancing talent between classes because you can’t count on players staying for 4 years anymore now. If he is an upgrade over someone on the upcoming roster, you take him now
Obviously, we’re not disagreeing. I’m talking about the perfect scenario. We don’t need him enough this season to lose a guy like Johnson or Karaban. But if he wants to come you obviously don’t say no

Without reading through all the comments so far, Hurley said he did expect to fill one more scholly this year.
If he reclasses it lines up with Dan Hurley's comments.

I've never made a player comparison in my life before, because I've never seen a high school kid play and think, "Hmm, he kind of reminds me of So-and-So," until now. Caron Butler? Presumably a poor man's version?
More like a poor man’s version of Phil Nolan?

Anyone else remember the Phil Nolan recruiting vid when he was coming up? It was like 50% from the pregame layup line & foul shooting. So funny. Phil did nice things for us not throwing shade. Just a ridiculous vid that rivals or someone did back then!

Seems like the lack of noise on the JV OV and the decommit of (Team Melo)Gapare from DePaul may be connected. Can he be a '22 on UConn's roster or does a '23 spot affect Middleton decision?? Looks like our new Team Melo UConn commits are recruiting for Dan Hurley

I dont see this kid coming to UConn
Looks like he is looking very high P5
That's OK

I don’t mind the idea of recreating an AAU team at the college level. But I would prefer the team to be really good. Melo has a lot of these high ceiling guys but the team itself is only OK.

Gapare reminds me of the kind of guy that winds up at Gonzaga. And he’d be closer to home (assuming that’s NZ). Still love to have his skills here.

We were in his original Top 7 before he committed to DePaul last month.

Since then, two of his AAU teammates, Jaylen Ross and Solomon Ball have committed to UConn. We definitely have a decent shot of landing him IMO
A Fab 5 type of deal. Friends wanting to play together?

So this kid decommitted from DePaul to go to UMaas or Iona? So not a Big East player (even if DePaul is the resident mid-major)

If he ends up at UMass, a big if, that will certainly turn some heads
If anyone can recruit at UMass, Frank Martin can
