I hope the ESPN pundits stop trying to convince me that Plum is close to Moriah Jefferson in terms of talent and skill. Not even in the same ball park!!!!

Defense is lookin pretty leaky for both teams in the half court...

It's the tale of two Husky's.... I guess i'll have to settle for an Orange beat down :P

How in the heck did Maryland lose to Washington. They are so limited talent wise.
Maryland played zero defense and Brionna Jones couldn't push Osahor around like she could Stewie and Tuck.

Obviously Plum can score, but I had no idea until tonight how shaky she is handling the ball against pressure. It hasn't been pretty. And it's not really a fluke either; even before tonight's debacle, she had a couple more turnovers this season than assists.

.-.
Every time Washington makes a push, Syracuse will hit a couple of 3s to kill the run.

I would rather UConn faced Washington as they're a slow one dimensional team. Syracuse has more weapons, especially if they are hitting their 3 point shots. Plus their defense will give UConn more trouble then Washington ever could.

I see another 20-30 win... They haven't seen pressure like Uconn...

Obviously, my money is on UConn next game, but WOW! Syracuse is bringing it and their momentum has not let up! I'm getting "Texas A&M 2011" vibes w/r/t this pressure D!

But obviously I 100% expect that MoJeff is paying close attention and already mentally preparing. Syracuse's press tonight would give every PG in the country basically a nightmare tonight, EXCEPT MoJeff! She is very very capable of rising to the occasion.

MoJeff is soo ideal for this challenge.

Syracuse scored 80 points, won by 20, and hit 12 3's.

And they play a style that the loss of KLS hurts us the greatest.

This is a very dangerous team, make no mistake.

I remember reading a quote on here 4 years ago when we were preparing to play Louisville... someone said something along the lines of Kelly Farris guarding Shoni Shimmel at the breakfast table lol.... Reminded me of that :P

Yes, they are very good. But I think that Mo and the Huskies will handle the pressure a little better. UCONN could have a field day with lay ups if the Cuse extend pressure. I also think we have an advantage inside. UCONN is more dynamic and plays much better D than the West Coast Huskies. UCONN needs to dictate the pace and the rest will take care of itself.

Syracuse sets the press after made baskets - keep them to low shooting percentages and rebound and they will not be pressing much.

One of the reasons teams have so much trouble with Uconn is that they switch on all the screens, and most teams use pretty simple on ball screens to get their shooters open - happened a ton tonight especially with Osahor not anywhere the player setting the screen. It is one reason that playing offense against Uconn is so hard for teams who have not played them before. If Stewart can keep from getting silly fouls early, this could be over quickly.

Syracuse won this game, first and foremost, because they attempted 19 more field goals than Washington did. The teams' shooting percentages were actually comparable, but Washington turned the ball over too much, and Syracuse demolished them on the glass. From what I can tell, this is what Syracuse's entire philosophy boils down to: take more shots than your opponents do, and eventually (shooting efficiency be damned) you'll make enough of them to win.

UConn needs to be smart with the basketball, and they especially have to grab rebounds. I would feel a little better about UConn's ability to handle the press if Lou were available—remember how good she was at breaking DePaul's press early in the season?—but on the bright side, UConn does become a better rebounding team the more minutes Gabby and Napheesa get. As far as executing against Syracuse's zone in the halfcourt, it'll be interesting to see whether they come with as much ball pressure as they brought tonight. Compared to Washington, UConn is less dribble and more pass, and it's not as though they're unaccustomed to facing a zone. Above all, UConn cannot allow Syracuse to speed up them up too much. If Syracuse is going to gamble and trap and all that stuff, there will be open looks available; it's just a matter of remaining patient and knocking them down when they're there.

Syracuse definitely proved to be an EXTREMELY dangerous team peaking at the right time tonight. Of course I wouldn't bet on them beating UConn, but things kinda just got interesting again after the Oregon State blowout! Again, Syracuse totally reminded me of that 2011 Texas A&M team that won it all. But at the end of the day, UConn's 2016 team is just flat-out way better than Notre Dame's 2010 team (who fell to Texas A&M in the championship game).

Skylar Diggins, currently one of the best PG's in the world, had 6 turnovers in that game, b/c she was just a sophomore vs. MoJeff coming into the next game with the experience of a senior. Plus, MoJeff is quicker and lower to the ground than Skylar.

Morgan Tuck was the star in the last game. Stewart is the #1 player in the country AND there's the interesting subplot of Syracuse being basically her hometown, growing up rooting for them, and the not-scheduling-the-senior-year-homecoming angle. Obviously the KLS is a big blow. But all I can think about is MoJeff right now.

*RANDOM TRIVIA ALERT*

With 14 rebounds tonight, Osahor falls 1 short of Janel McCarville's tournament record of 75 in as many games.

LOL, don't worry, even us West Coast/Pac-12 folks know better than that!

Syracuse scored 80 off a really poor defense hitting 12 3's. Take 20 points off that total against UCONN's defense. I see UConn getting to the 80's and Cuse scoring in the 60's
