Syracuse Postgame Thread

Vegas does not wait around. They have already posted the odds for Friday's game with North Carolina.
UCONN is favored over the Tar Heels by 27.5 points!
You do understand that "Vegas" has nothing to do with it. The spread is just trying to balance the books among the people doing the betting. The "bookies" maximize their take and minimize their losses by keeping the books balanced as close to possible. They never, ever lose. Something to think about before you lay your next bet.

Traditionally, UConn is at its best when its offense runs through post players at the elbow; Stef Dolson, Morgan Tuck, and Gabby Williams were all outstanding in that role. Tonight, Serah Williams looked the part as the post orchestrator!

There’s not much else to say about Azzi, but I was hoping Geno would put her back in the game 😔

I hate when players dive at the legs of other players.

Fisher is a freshmen. Now is not her time. Her time to get some minutes will come next year, and more minutes the following year.
So using that logic, Blanca should not have played. I was just wondering why Fisher did not play. Given the score, there had to be a reason for her not playing other than "she is a freshman". Just sayin'/askin'.

Just in case nobody has posted this yet.....the Syracuse coach is not in the mood to return to Gampel next season.....she said she knew her team was in trouble at 2:30pm today at their shoot around after her players started looking at all of those UConn banners......not the first time we've heard that one......

Blanca is going to be the best player in America soon.....Thats my analysis.

Even Lobo was saying this the other night. "Blanca will be the number 1 pick in the WNBA eventually"

This just might be the best and most complete Uconn team I have ever seen... I emphasize the word "team"

I am not even going to refer to Uconn as having a "bench" anymore.. The truth is Geno really has 8 starters.

To be honest, I was hoping that Geno put Azzi in for a minute or two just so she could get a final curtain call.

But as some have said, maybe she said no, or why risk an injury. (Ie: Paige getting hurt needlessly when the game was over)

Of course! I was just posting the spread from Vegas.
Thanks for the lecture!!

Azzi, Sarah and the entire top 8 were beyond brilliant in the first half.
I totally understand Geno calling off the dogs in the 2nd half, but, in addition to not pressing or trapping, it seems like the standard man-to-man was not very committed (understandable-the players are human after all) and players didn't seem invested on both sides of the ball (with the exception, IMO, of K9 and Azzi).
Give credit to Syracuse for showing up in the second half and putting forth a good effort to play for their own self-respect. That being said...I was scared and dismayed by the Orange's flailing physicality and the referees total lack of control as UCONN'S players constantly got mauled (an extention of, as has been noted by other posters, Syracuse's first half "sweep the leg" approach to dealing with Sarah) without Syracuse ever being called for their many fouls.
Obviously, none of this impacted the game result, but it was still a disgrace, putting players at great risk, unnecessarily.
Thank goodness that everyone seemed to escape unharmed.
On to Ft Worth and UNC!

P.S.

If Azzi said no to coming back in which is highly probable. Then that is the pure definition of a "team player" which she most definitely is.
