Syracuse post game thread

Listened on the radio and watched the chat.

1-Couldn’t catch the ball, both O and D. Sounds like we had at least 2 maybe 3 ez interceptions

2-Got nauseous in 3rd quarter when both sides of the ball stopped being agressive

3-Wayne-O who calls it like he sees it, said 3 blatant pass interferences went uncalled when any one would have salted the game away.

Game set match. Bummer.

Mora let his OC and DC throw away the game. Thats on him. Never ever again can we play stall ball and hope to sneak away with a win. What an utter sheet show failure.
It’s been an ongoing problem since last year from Duke to Wake Forest, even to Georgia State where we were up 20 late in the game and ended up giving them a chance for an onside kick. When you’re leading against a team with the talent to beat you, you try to keep it out of reach so they don’t have a comeback chance.

idk if this is a compliment to uconn or an insult to uconn - I take it as an insult, as if being legitimately challenged by UConn nearly to the point of defeat, is such an embarassment to Fran Brown that he makes his kids run sprints after the game? i think it's a shot at UConn; THIS is what P4 teams think of us, even MEDIOCRE ones like syracuse, no matter what they say on the mic. I guarantee if this same game happens against even a meh ACC team like Wake or Stanford, the sprints don't happen.

If you put Fran on the spot and asked him, I'm sure he'd say it has "nothing" to do with us - he's just molding his guys. I call BS. he thinks we're beneath him.

This is why we needed to kick their ***es. nothing less than a WIN against them will shut them up, change perceptions, and actually make Big12 schools take us seriously in the next vote. We failed.

It’s the ultimate insult to us and our football program

No. You seem to have a reading comprehension problem. I said the benchmark is bowl games. And he's doing that, all while hamstrung by having less money in the Wild Wild West of NIL amateur athletics.

I'll type it once more for the really slow learners: Mora is NOT the problem...

Didn't Mora say we are in the top 5 or so in NIL spending for G5 schools?

Haven't other G5 schools beat p4 schools year to year? And as an independent, we have many more opportunities than those other G5 programs. I don't think there was a NIL warchest for Northern Illinois when they beat Notre Dame last year. Yet they weren't hamstrung.

If the goal is to be a solid G5 program we are there now. But we are one of the few FBS athletic programs that still has a shot at a power conference invite, however small that shot may be. We need to get a win against them occasionally at least, especially when a P4 team is trying to hand you one like today.

My bottom line is that game was nothing but a disappointment. You had the game won, then Gordo clenched his butt cheeks and went into prevent offense way too soon. You can't run it every frickin play when there's 8 minutes to go in the game. He owes the team an apology. To a lesser degree, there were some dropped passes and bad passes that also hurt, but for me, gordo gets the deflated game ball. Unacceptable.

Ugh Exactly why I wanted this win so bad, this is clearly grandstanding as I stated earlier likely trying to win brownie points with the fanbase and boosters.

Agreed! Unfortunately this loss may be a program killer imo. It would have been a statement win, for the P4 judges. Instead it’s probably the worst loss of the decade
It’s not how teams get into a P4 based on a single game. A problem killer, your quite the drama queen, congrats on your victory, you were just dying to use the line “program killing loss” when ya could.

As fans we have the right to react to bad losses as we see fit. Still, have to say that if you are treating certain games as referendums on the team and the program (whether win or loss), you are asking to be miserable. What was a better experience as a fan: watching today's game, or last year's road opener v Maryland? Yes today was disappointing, but you can't bail after week 2 and call yourself a true fan. And if you are interested in big picture, and you are claiming that the program hasn't progressed substantially under Mora (and Sammis) then I'd question your judgment.

We were way more talented than them. It's dumbfounding that we managed to lose this one

You can not design a more “don’t play scared to lose” situation than we are in. We aren’t in a conference. We aren’t in the P4. And we have everything to gain with these types of wins and not much at all to lose. Instead of a gauntlet of a schedule, we have like 3-4 games where we should just let it fly.

And yet they are still petrified to coach to win in these situations. And quite frankly on offense they are petrified to make the plays necessary.

This one hurt. During that 13 year stretch when we were really bad that was expected. Today’s game would’ve been such a getting over the hump moment. Three touchdowns given up on the last three possessions is tough. They showed heart to come back to tie it, but it never should’ve gotten that far. Still have a whole season in front of us, and if we can against the G6 opponents on the schedule will be in good shape.

If in the 4th, we were only going to throw off play action, I would rather see Evers in the game. We needed first downs and having a QB who could tuck it and keep the chains moving a few times is all we needed. Maybe a tough spot to put him in, but he's a veteran too. Should be able to come in and close the game.

Badda Bing Badda Boom! At least three times today there where 10 / 15 yards of running room when only 5 were needed for a run and slide for a first down. Why no quest for a replay on the last TD that came down in front of the pylon not beyond?
I may have missed it but I thought it was a tad short. Once again ACC officials would never agree. 😉
there were many things that they missed, especially holding against Syracuse, which was pretty evident 2nd half - guess that was their strategy. Nope, they swallowed their whistles.

Both suck but for different reasons. Neither one is a better experience unless we’re counting “almost had ‘em”.

Now maybe if we had taken #1 ranked tOSU to overtime, I would agree that it was still great to experience even with an L.
