Yeah obviously it sucks but I can appreciate a thriller of a game. I'd rather lose the way we did than not take the game to OT.

Sometimes you can just appreciate a good game instead of feeling upset that your team lost
It's a skill I admire. Id rather feel appreciation than hopeless dejection any day of the week.

In the second half 17 rushes, 17 passes until the final drive. The final drive added 7 more passes.

Edit - one of the rushes in the play-by-play was duplicated... so it was 17-17 before the final drive in the second half.

I meant the babying on this board. He had similar bad throws last week and people waved it off because of the big win.
For all the flowers I previously gave him saying that he proved me wrong, this game is incredibly frustrating. 7th year player and starting QB, you’d think he’d be able to complete some decent passes to wide open players in a must win game.

4th quarter, when you have them on the ropes why in God's name would you let up on offense? Go for the jugular, bring in Evers for set or two just to keep things unexpected and something new for their D to have to ideal with. Why do the most pedictable thing(spamming to Edwards) with that much time left? Bad decision making there.

I know we’re trying to run a clock out, but some of those play calls in the last drive in regulation were bound to fail. We need to open it up a little bit with some flare outs or mis direction instead of the running same off tackle runs.

this is one of the more disappointing losses in history of the program. We are exactly who people think we are and that's the most painful part of it.

there is no moral victory, no silver lining and just a loss is a loss is a loss.

Now onto next week.

.-.
Look at it this way. Game shows UCONN has improved to the point, on the field, where football may be viable for a P4 conference. Now the fans need to show out win or lose. That is a huge step up in a couple of years.
No we’re not going to be invited to a power conference for keeping it close. These are all wasted opportunities.

Play NOT to lose, GUARANTEED to lose. Defense gave the offense the ball back up 11 how many times? You over here punting like p!@#$ all 2nd half.
Losing programs have no idea how to play with a lead. You’d hope Mora knew that with his tenure.

Up 17-6 with the other teamed pinned at their own 10 with 7 minutes to go. Awful loss. There is no silver lining in this one. All it would have taken at that point was one reasonably successful drive or one defensive stop.

someone on the in-game chat said that Joe F throws well only when there is a perfect pocket. I never noticed this but it checks out, last year this was true too. a GOOD quarterback will put it on the money when the play breaks down and he needs to escape the pocket and find someone. I can't think of a single instance today where JF hit a receiver while improvising (ie. the pocket broke down and he had to scramble some).

if you need perfectly calm seas to do your job, you are not good at your job. but alas, he remains our best hope. I don't see anyone else doing any better for us this year.

The one drive to complain about is the final drive after the first Syracuse touchdown... but that also started with 31 rushing yards before the 3 and out rushing.

I'm wondering what happened in the second half!! Joe Fagnano was good in passing game, but it seemed that he couldn't complete any passes.

That said, it was a game that was listed by the experts as a loss. We lost, but even though there's no moral victories, we took them to overtime and some on Syracuse You tube channel said Syracuse will be us by 40+ points.

Joe is good pocket throwing quarterback but he doesn't throw the ball that well when he is moving in the the pocket.

Yes, but it still doesn’t prevent those of little football thought from saying “we played not to lose”. Oldest trope in the book. It pisses them off because they really had planned to go with “why are we throwing with the lead”. We did not execute on offense. Plain and simple.

There is no need to pinpoint anything other than the fact that the coaches decided to stop playing football and started attempting to manage a piddly 11 point lead.

A good staff would keep playing football.

This is literally a textbook case of a staff that coached their way into a loss.

And he did it so many times this game. Do we not have a QB coach on the sidelines who can tell him to stop doing it?

Joe barely got moved out of the pocket and he threw terrible passes. Has he ever tried a little thing called a pump fake once in a while?

This one is going to hurt for a long time. They'll play the rest of this season, they'll win more games, we'll feel good again, but this one is going to stick in our craw for a long time.

They outplayed Cuse for 55 minutes. They had the game and let it get away. It sucks in every way.

BUT - you move on and get ready for the next game. That's sports.

Fagnano missed a lot today. He would have missed even more if not for some spectacular catches by Bell.

I think he's still probably the best QB in our locker room (maybe not by the wide margin that some thought 3 hours ago)...

Shameful. That was a game we should have won. Poor play calling when we were up 17-12 with the ball.

Three straight run plays. Three and out.

You can't do that. There has to be plays for Joe to pick up yards on his own.

We just gave Syracuse a gift. Disgusting.

It doesn't matter. Syracuse will be one of the worst teams in the ACC. Our team is simply not good. They are better than the dregs of FBS but worse than the worst in the P4.

That's just the way it is.

Terrible loss. Kids played their hearts out. The coaches failed them.

You missed that one then.

They were hoping to win, not trying to win. Talking about the coaches. They went full conservative mode trying to nurse a lead. My heart breaks for that defense. They were let down by the coaches.

It's skewed though to the beginning of the 3rd and the last drive and overtime. We threw 7 passes on the last drive to tie it and then what, 4 or 5 times in OT?
