One of the coolest coaches in Big Ten basketball. Sad by this announcement but totally understand. Gotta put your health first. I am hoping that Coach Merchant is able to make a full recovery.

Fifty three isn't as old as it once was and I hate to see anyone struggle with health issues at such a young age. Hopefully she can recover and fill her days with something she loves to do, even if she never coaches again.
