I was really motivated to help you move but my wife told me I couldn't.

Hey Cuse. Schedule us bitch. I dont care if its in the dome. 4 to 1.

Syracuse doesn't have enough games to schedule former conference mates like UConn. It is similar to UConn discontinuing playing its former Yankee Conference partners when it joined the Big East. It is just the way things are. Husky fans may not like it but they need to learn to accept it.

So true, ….. I mean after playing Colgate, LeMoyne, Utica, Clarkson, RIT, Cornell, Ithaca, Niagara, Buffalo and Albany how many games are there left for the others?

So you think Rudy was really motivated during his stay at UCONN? That is an acceptable opinion.
Your proving how motivated he was by saying he "would" have come back if JC didn't "make him" go to the NBA, is just sad.
Seems pretty reasonable to think that a guy who was just trying to cash checks would have gone to the league straight from high school when he would have been a top 20 pick, or after his freshman year when he would have been a top 10 pick. Instead he decided to play for free for one of the toughest basketball coaches ever, and would have done it for a third year. Doesn't seem like something an unmotivated person would do. Keep being clueless though.

Man you've really nailed it, that's exactly what it's similar to.

It actually works out pretty well for us, we avoid you during the portion of the season when you play decently, and will now only have to play you during the portion of the season when your players consistently piss down their legs.

I don't know. JC has said multiple times that he had to force Rudy out the door iirc. Rudy apparently was loving the college experience and really wanted to come back. JC wouldn't hear of it. RG still talks about that as one of his regrets.

I've literally never heard this. What a bizarre and unexpected epilogue to Rudy's time at UConn.

I just don't get why so many Husky fans feel Syracuse should schedule UConn. Once teams are no longer in the same conference, all bets are pretty much off that they will play one another regularly going forward. Look no further than UConn recently not playing Providence or go back longer to decades ago when games with UMass and URI were dropped with the move to the Big East. All of these teams are in much closer proximity to Storrs than Syracuse and games with them do not occur any more. Why then should the situation to Syracuse be different?

Because Providence, UMass, and URI are largely irrelevant. We just won the national championship. Again.

If 'Cuse doesn't want to schedule UConn, then fine; that's their prerogative. But it's pretty stupid of them. That game would be hyped like whoa, on national TV, and there'd be a lot of money involved. Of course, that would just lead to Syracuse losing on national television, which is probably why they don't want to schedule us.

Seems extremely hypocritical for UConn fans to expect another team to continue to play it when no longer conference mates when the Huskies have done it to several closeby schools that it too is no longer in a league with. It is not like UConn doesn't have plenty of cupcakes on its schedule that it couldn't swap out.

Did you read my post? It has very little to do with being conference mates or nearby schools. UConn is a better, more accomplished program than Syracuse. If Syracuse chooses to not schedule UConn, again, that's fine. It's just stupid. UConn playing URI, Providence, or UMass wouldn't bring any national attention. UConn playing Syracuse would. These aren't analogous situations. This is so patently obvious that I'm going to assume that you're being deliberately obtuse, rather than that you could actually be this foolish.

I'm sorry, but who the hell is "David 76" to question Rudy Gay's motivation for when he was at UConn? Unless you were one of his teammates or coaches and around him every day, or you have a direct quote from Rudy questioning his own motivation, I don't want to hear it. You don't have the information necessary to make a claim like that.

With Syracuse fans the line between playing dumb and actually just being dumb is really non-existent, huh?

I will put it as simply as possible. UConn no longer plays local longtime rivals Providence, UMass, and URI because it no longer wants to. Syracuse no longer plays UConn because it doesn't desire it. Playing UConn apparently doesn't do much for the Orange. Syracuse would rather play old Big East teams such as St. John's, Georgetown, and Villanova as they play the games in big cities where there are many SU alums and potential future recruits. Syracuse chooses not to play former league partners such as UConn and Providence as the benefit is much less. There are not nearly as many SU alums in CT and RI and the recruiting talent far there is less than in NYC, DC, and Philly.
And those facts apply equally to us as well. There is no point to playing you because it's a waste of a road game to go to Syracuse, New York, and we can schedule games against equal and better programs in better locations for recruiting exposure.

You keep mentioning that UCONN fans think Syracuse should schedule us, but that doesn't actually make it true. There is exactly one guy in this thread that said Syracuse should schedule us. The rest just said they hate you, and even that is more by default than anything else.

I am not an Orange fan. I am merely stating what I perceive to be their perspective.

While you may not personally want a game with SU, there seem to be many other Husky fans that do, particularly one that has multiple posts in this thread.
Well you sound like a complete moron, so I guess you captured their perspective perfectly. Good job, good effort.

It has to be whatever team the Squid is coaching. In the 90s, all UConn fans hated UMass (and their cheating). In the 2000s, we all hated Memphis (and their cheating). Now, no one hates UMass and Memphis, but instead we all hate Kentucky (and their eventual proven cheating).
BTW, UConn beat Kentucky twice in the Final 4. It will be a shame when those Kentucky teams are stricken from the history books.

We're defending national champions. If we decide that our marquee ACC opponent in the metro area is going to be fellow four-time champion Duke, then Syracuse is just going to deal with it. Maybe they can try to get us in another year or two if we can fit them in.

We can't be snobs after all. If we only scheduled fellow 4+ champions, we'd play the same five schools over and over and it would get boring. Indiana was nice enough to play us when we were only 2 or 3 time champions, so we should remember that and reach down to help the occasional upstart cut their teeth so to speak. Right now we're doing that with Florida, but perhaps Syracuse can suck up to us a little in negotiations and we'll give them a shot. They have an admirable little program. I admire their grit.

You seem to have the pompous a routine perfected. I guess practice does in fact make perfection.
I prefer to think of myself as a natural, but thanks.

Is that somehow different than playing Central Ct State, Yale, Coppin State, Columbia, and Bryant?

That's 5 did you want to add Duke, Florida, Texas, Stanford or any others out of conference? And more than likely 2 of Texas AM, West Virginia, BC, New Mexico…………...

My sincere apologies to Rudy Gay and the offended fans. I did not know of Rudy's wanting to stay here.

I think a lot of people have reached the same conclusion as you, but Rudy was in kind of a weird situation. He had the most talent on that team, but he was the youngest and the veterans around him had all won a title. Plus were all fringe NBA guys looking to play their way into the league. He also was in many ways too big to play the 3 in college - he always had a 6-4 guy on him who could crowd him off the dribble. It made it hard for him to be the dominant presence on the floor, so it always felt like he was holding a little back.

Rudy perhaps could have followed the Kemba path of scratching the surface his first two years before exploding as a junior with young teammates when he had to. But we'll never know.
