One thing I recall reading is that UCONN rarely runs specific plays. Geno tries to teach the players to read defenses and create based on what they are facing on the court. IMHO this is one reason why their most talented freshmen sometimes seem to struggle - NO ONE teaches that kind of offense.

Much truth in this I hope.
Agree?

Let's not overreact to a few 'loving' and positive posts over there, MayaFan. We just whomped the Lady Vols' masters in the SEC, so they're being cordial because 'the enemy of my enemy is my friend.'

I think what's most interesting, coming on the heels of UConn's beatdown of SC, is that we've shown other teams that cannot match SC's size down low, that to relentlessly pressure their guards to deny and make their entry passes into the post as difficult as possible, forcing Coates and Wilson away from their preferred shooting areas to receive the ball, can work well.

Moriah and Kia picked up their guards at midcourt and never (ok, rarely) gave them the space to send easy passes into the paint. Granted, nobody has a Moriah/Kia combo (or our coaches) to exactly replicate our successful strategy, but there are several quick SEC guard tandems that might be able to pull it off.
Mitchell and Schaefer could make it work.

I'd like to see Baylor vs. SC. I think that would be a highly entertaining game. Unfortunately, Baylor/Texas/OSU might be the 4th #1 seed and end up in UCONN's bracket while ND is left to duke it out with SC... (providing there aren't upsets of 1 seeds)...

Agreed, including the part about no one having defensive guards like Moriah and Kia. Hell, they may be the best tandem ever.

I think most get the 2 boards mixed up... The Summitt is the "real" board, most of us only visit VolNation because we were locked out of the Summitt (refused their PPV set up)

Not a subscriber to the Summitt, but I occasionally will go their to look at the titles of the thread and number of responses. Also to see if there's anything of interest that might sway me to subscribe for the remainder of the season. I've noticed the number of responses to threads are significantly reduced this year. Got to believe their subscriber based is greatly reduced from a couple of years ago as well. I'm sure many who do subscribe are still loyal to Holly because of her connection to Pat, while on Vol Nation more are asking Holly to resign or be fired.

It was six pages of respect (to date). I'm no fan of the LV or their fanbase, but there were many good points made. I going to accept their kind words with grace.
I'm with you. It seems kinda arrogant to kick sand in the face off fans that, while not necessarily "liking" Geno, do respect his coaching ability. Some of the folks here feel the same about Muffet and it's a part of fandom. FWIW, I thought some of the comments in the Congratulations thread started by the South Carolina fan were ungracious, too. For the most part, I really enjoy the Boneyard except for the occasional outburst of hubris.

well said... it appears to be very slow on the Summitt (according to new threads, post and views) yup they're very loyal to the Pat Summitt era.

on VolNation they tell it like it is BUT they dont want no outsider coming in telling them that the LV's stink. They are finally honest about admiting how good UConn has been and how great Geno is. There's still a few who are stuck on the old Maya Moore stuff.

Overall I enjoy Vol Nation... just cant post there cause they'll think Im stirring the pot :D

Might this be a sign that Geno has actually achieved the 'perfection' he's been pursuing for 31 years?
