NO offense, interior defense was weak, poor shooting, turnovers and the coach on the sideline looking completely perplexed.

My major gripe - of course, not a single minute for Faris. Is it sad that I am almost wishing she would have gotten cut and picked up ANYWHERE else?

A 21 point loss at home to a team that didn't make the playoffs last year. Get ready for a long season Sun fans. But maybe it will be Donovan's last if the Sun management is finally willing to admit they made a huge mistake in letting MT go. No one's going to buy the 'developing" or "rebuilding" crap. This team didn't need rebuilding until they fired their coach.
The +/- on Ogwumike and Thomas tells the tale.
I agree about Faris... too bad she couldn't escape. Donovan might be the worst coach in the league.

I cannot stand Anne Donovan as a coach and was appalled when they fired MT without a plan for a replacement then hire the horrible AD to coach! I keep writing e-mails to Chris Sienko the Sun GMgr. telling him what a mistake the Sun made getting rid of MT, but hiring AD was even worse! Maybe if more of the Boneyard e-mailed Sienko we may quicken the departure of Ms. Donovan! Shows you how clueless AD is, the Sun played the Liberty 2x in the preseason without, T. Charles, Cappy Pondexter, & P. Pierson, and she bragged after 2 victories how she now has players that want to be on the Sun and want to win! As I stated in an earlier post AD has the longest practices in the WNBA and the players hate it that they are completely worn out 1/2 way through the season!

Anne Donovan is a disaster.

If you look at her record as a coach, it is mediocre at best - 167 - 151. She seems to stay about three years at every coaching position then leave. What the Sun management saw in Donovan is beyond me.

Sun fans are going to have a very long season. And Ice is right, it will take a long while for the Sun to recover from Donovan's reign.

Might be? Donovan is by far the worst coach in the league and she is also an embarrassment to the game of basketball. In 2012 Mike Thibault went 21-9 with virtually the same team that Donovan led to a 10-24 record in 2013.

I am not a fan of the Donovan hire, nor qualified as to whether she is the worst coach in the league. But, what concerns me is, like Larry Brown, she always "has her suitcase packed". With the exception of her 5-year stint in Seattle, she has never stayed in a coaching position for more than 2 years. While not everybody has to be a Pat Summit or Geno (or CD, or Harry, or whomever) in terms of long-term tenure, it's gotta be real hard for a GM, college AD, or athlete (pro or college), to buy into a Donovan-led program. Why should anyone invest time and trust into her leadership, if it's likely that she'll bail on you before long? Why would anybody believe her when she says she's committed to a job?

I said this last year. I think they should have pursued Debbie Black to coach.

The difference is that Larry Brown just likes to travel.

On the bright side we are going to be in both the KML and Stewie sweepstakes.

The team that Gray plays for will become my new favorite WNBA squad.

Well since Gray isnt playing this year.... I dont have to root for the Sun until next season ;) I'll follow them this year through these gripe threads that Im sure will pop up all summer

Interesting contrast. That's a 17 1/2 inch drop!

That won't do any good, he's more to blame than Donovan. Sienko was the dope that fired the best coach in the league to bring in this hack. He's the one who doubled down on stupid by choosing the hack over the most respected players on the team. Sienko has shown that his competence was totally dependant on Thibault. Send your emails to Mitchell Etess.

Totally agree that Sieko is the one to blame. I think his drafting in the last three years besides the obvious Ogwumike has been atrocious. He should have grabbed Tiffany Hayes if he was that obsessed with getting UConn players. I like Faris but he could have grabbed her in a later round. He's the one that should be let go. I would have been satisfied with a winning season but no championship.

If you all get a chance, go to WNBA.com and read the league's general mgr.'s predictions for this season and in all the coaches areas Anne Donovan is mentioned ONCE, behind Mike T, in developing young players! Otherwise she is never considered one of the top coaches! That speaks volumes what the league thinks of A. Donovan!

If the Sun drop their first six games.... and that could happen.... will management consider making an in-season coaching/GM change?

Sun up two on Minnesota on the road, 7 seconds left. More to the point, no negative comments to be seen anywhere on the board.

Oh well. Tie score. Seimone ties it up after Maya makes a steal. The cream rising to the top. Maya with 33 points in regulation.

Sun just went up three on an Alyssa Thomas floater. Lindsay Whalen converts an old fashioned three point play on the other end to tie it up.

Whalen makes the first of two free throws, misses the second. I'll give you two guesses as to who comes down with the rebound, first guess doesn't count.
