I loved the enthusiasm of the student section tonight at the Tx A&M game. Good energy for every play. However, I abhor the "Overrated" cheer toward the end of the game. It demonstrates a lack of class, IMO.

FWIW, there was a thread on the Summitt someone started wishing Tenn's student section was like that for LV games.

There is, of course, already a thread on this topic. There is every year after every game in which the students chant this word. We all abhor it. And it will happen again, maybe this year and most certainly next year and beyond. It will happen every year. It happens at arenas around the country, every year. This is what students do. Nothing will prevent it other than ranked teams being competitive on the road.

Geno told the students it not a cool thing to say. Maybe they'll stop. I doubt it. I'm glad they show up and show some enthusiasm. Overall, I thought the crowd was quiet tonight. But I was watching on tv.

I think if that's the worst they say, then Uconn is pretty lucky.

There is a thread on the Baylor forum about how they practically beg students to come to the games (#1 in the country!) and it's nearly empty.

I just got home from the game and the crowd was not quiet. Lots of energy at the XL. The student section did a great job (other than the overrated chant). Everytime UConn forced a turnover crowd responded loudly. Everytime they drained a 3 the crown responded loudly. It was great to be there.
And as you noted Geno got on the students for the overrated chant. Good for him.

I just returned home from the game and I agree the crowd was noisy! As to the "over rated" chant, they are kids and kids will be kids. The student section was loud and that was a good thing. We need this to continue.

I'm glad to hear that the crowd was not quiet. Like I said, this was my perception watching on tv. I'm thrilled to be wrong on this. I was at the Stanford game and thought the crowd was great and I was hoping for the same tonight.

Notre Dame last year in the BET final was an excellent scene. I expect it to be special in February.
