That's Kristy Winters-Scott who says that. She is also a DC area broadcaster who does Georgetown games. The interesting thing her daughter plays for Georgetown. It has to be hard to keep her tone in check and not route for her daughter during these games.
There is a slight Georgetown bias , but not totally off putting.

She does not stop talking. Give us analysis about the game, not have a general conversation about womens basketball. I assure you, the people tuning in last night don't need a tutorial.

It means a basket with a foul. I'm not too crazy about that term either.
Its like when they call an interception and then the player going down and making a basket a "pick 6". Thats a football term.

At first, I thought it meant a play where the player with the ball makes it look so easy it appears she's got gravity on her side. That at least makes some sense. But then I've seen it used when the player goes through traffic and, after encountering some difficulty, makes the shot. So, depending on who is saying it, the word apparently can refer to almost any kind of play, as long as it is successful. Which renders it without meaning, IMHO. It's one phrase of which I am not a fan.

I think that's another term borrowed or stolen from football. Ball carriers are referred to as running downhill when they have a lot of momentum and power on their side. It is often thru congested areas.

While we're harrumphing about this kind of stuff, the thing that drives me crazy is when Ryan Ruocco is too lazy to say lay up, so he says X player "with the lay." It just does not sound right. And he says it about 42 times per game.

Hoop and the harm from a commentator doesn't bother me nearly as much as a player screaming "And 1," often before they even make the shot. This also occurs about 42 times per game.
