Yes.I was in 114 and the SJU fans around me said they were ticket holders. The family in front of me said they were not missing this game after stinking for so many years.
I'm curious, are the 100s at PBA all season ticket holders?

Just because UConn fans have been able to pack MSG in the previous years before last season because SJU was't good. We're not used to what happened last night.A St. John's crowd at a St. John's home game. I'm not sure why this is shocking for so many people.
Its all relative. The Illinois game was probably 70/30 Uconn--felt 50/50 during warmup with the orange so loud.
Florida game was probably 65/35 in favor of Uconn.

If I remember correctly he was born sometime in the 1400s so he’s probably got another 600 or so years in him at least. P4 job is not out of the question.Does Pitino take another P4 job? The biggest attraction of the St. John's job was that it didn't require him to move. I'm not convinced that he'll be up for the disruption again for a new start up.
I said the same thing in the chat. Pitino is a scummy human, but a very good basketball coach. This last run at St. John's confirms that and rehabilitate his reputation, somewhat.
When St John's sells more season tickets and those fans show for a big game, like we would, they're going to fill the lower bowl. Our fans bought the tickets that were available to them, the upper bowl. For our home games, we even fill the upper bowl
It was a home game for a ranked team people, and a fan base that's desperate to be relevant again. They brought it
Now, if we meet in the BET, that will be the test. Their season ticket holders won't have any more tickets than ours. And the rest will be up for grabs on the secondary markets
Enjoy the ride people

Not often a top 3 in conference rival heads to MSG. Basically us or in recent past Marquette or Creighton depending on when but NY/CT is a border that means close rivalry. Here's a mention of 'Storrs South' by NY Post today:

St. John’s fans did their part — and more — during electrifying UConn win
In the lead-up to Friday night, nobody knew what to expect from the sellout crowd.nypost.com
You really think our fans are more objective than theirs? Not often a top 3 in conference rival heads to MSG. Basically us or in recent past Marquette or Creighton depending on when but NY/CT is a border that means close rivalry.
St. John's fans are delusional though:
1. A few light, almost uncallable fouls on us, and some of them wanted a flagrant.
2. When Braylon tripped on the court so the ball went OOB, one fan wanted deliberate delay of game
3. When Demary had a free throw late in the second half their guy was 2 ft in the lane before he shot - no call so some grumbles from UConn fans (as we were called for a lane violation in the first half) for equality - were met with "no violation! he was behind the line!"
I get UConn fans can be rough, but we see what we see.
That’s ridiculous. This was a St. John’s home game. They have season season ticket holders and obviously otherwise bought tickets early for this game. If you want to criticize the UCONN turnout compare it to the turnout at a Providence game at the Dunc.If we can only fill the building on Saturdays is it really Storrs south? Think the fan base has had a bad showing all year except for the Arizona game
Not sure where you were looking in the uppers but it was mainly red. Besides my son and myself I think there were four other Uconn fans is our whole section.I was there …. lower bowl was 70-30 SJU but the red i saw in the upper seemed to be about 30% of the crowd.
Electric environment ! Tickets were pricey and getting into the city was brutal. I had a dinner in new canaan with a client that ended at 615. Had a car pick me up (gotta do what you gotta do). After a couple cocktails, a long day that started at 345 am, i fell asleep in the car . When I woke up, the city was on my right and i was on the whitestone - uber driver said west side hwy, CCP and West Side were disasters. Getting crosstown was a nightmare with all the snow/ garbage . Didn’t get to garden until 810… that’s about 40 miles in 2 hours.
Even with the loss - still well worth it.
not sure where you were looking but besides my self and son I think there were only four other Uconn fans in our whole sectiona lot of red in the lower bowl but the upper deck was very blue
Uconn fan here.very intentional scheduling by SJU/MSG/FOX
I think this was more than just Big East scheduling. Other games of note were going on and not wanting competition of the enthusiast not from those schools (e.g., which game to watch?)Uconn fan here.
I don't think St Johns has much say in the conference schedule, I would think the conference sets the schedule. There are limited Saturdays and Sundays during the period of the conference schedule. Yes Saturday or Sunday would have been easier but MSG is also home to the Knicks and Rangers and there are many other events that take place there.
Friday night on FOX - isn't it good for both teams and the league to have a national audience for the two top ranked teams in the conference?
Compare a Friday night for UConn fans to get to MSG via Metro North compared the St Johns fand getting to the Civic Center on a weekday evening with very few options for Mass transit.
There was nothing scheduled at MSG on Saturday.Uconn fan here.

As we discussed above, the consensus seems to be that Fox wanted this game for Friday night.
Yes, it was a pain in the neck getting to MSG on a Friday night.
The Big East and Val don’t really know how to schedule. They put this exact game last year in Storrs at like 6:30 on a Friday night and half the people couldn’t get to their seats for tip.I think this was more than just Big East scheduling. Other games of note were going on and not wanting competition of the enthusiast not from those schools (e.g., which game to watch?)
There's also logistics especially in the Winter - if we played them on Sunday we have to get to Butler likely Tuesday but also the Superbowl was Sunday so the game would have been earlier like 10am which is not ideal either.
A few years ago the game was on Super Bowl Sunday and started at noon. There were a lot of of empty seats although if I remember it was still majority Uconn fans.I think this was more than just Big East scheduling. Even though there might not have been any events at MSG on Saturday there is till the consideration of when the teams last played and when/where they play next. There was nothing scheduled at MSG on Saturday.

All true but I don't see how any of that is relevant to this game in particular.Even though there might not have been any events at MSG on Saturday there is till the consideration of when the teams last played and when/where they play next.
Twenty conference games have to be scheduled in a limited amount of time and take into account the scheduling of all games allowing time for travel. Uconn's next game is at Butler.
