I don't think St Johns has much say in the conference schedule, I would think the conference sets the schedule. There are limited Saturdays and Sundays during the period of the conference schedule. Yes Saturday or Sunday would have been easier but MSG is also home to the Knicks and Rangers and there are many other events that take place there.

Friday night on FOX - isn't it good for both teams and the league to have a national audience for the two top ranked teams in the conference?

Compare a Friday night for UConn fans to get to MSG via Metro North compared the St Johns fand getting to the Civic Center on a weekday evening with very few options for Mass transit.

I think this was more than just Big East scheduling. Other games of note were going on and not wanting competition of the enthusiast not from those schools (e.g., which game to watch?)

There's also logistics especially in the Winter - if we played them on Sunday we have to get to Butler likely Tuesday but also the Superbowl was Sunday so the game would have been earlier like 10am which is not ideal either.

There was nothing scheduled at MSG on Saturday.

As we discussed above, the consensus seems to be that Fox wanted this game for Friday night.

The Big East and Val don’t really know how to schedule. They put this exact game last year in Storrs at like 6:30 on a Friday night and half the people couldn’t get to their seats for tip.

They wanted to feature Michigan St & Illinois on Saturday night. They gave St John’s and UConn Friday night. Regardless I don’t really care that UConn fans couldn’t get to MSG, it was designed to be a St John’s home game and it was. When they are good and playing there it is NOT our home arena.

A few years ago the game was on Super Bowl Sunday and started at noon. There were a lot of of empty seats although if I remember it was still majority Uconn fans.

Even though there might not have been any events at MSG on Saturday there is till the consideration of when the teams last played and when/where they play next.

Twenty conference games have to be scheduled in a limited amount of time and take into account the scheduling of all games allowing time for travel. Uconn's next game is at Butler.

All true but I don't see how any of that is relevant to this game in particular.
