Stop posting AI videos, Images, memes, text, etc.

How we know if some of our new posters are not AI themselves ?

The first two or three dozen posts need mod approval, and new users can't register using a proxy server.

I'm also part of an Internet honeypot that shares information with other sites. Whenever we get a bot trying to post AI or even just a person flaming a sight, I submit the ip. The database is big enough and updated realtime, so a lot of bots are blocked even before they get a chance to post here.

I get your point though. My rule of thumb is if a post sounds intelligent, I'm gonna check to see if it's AI.

I assume you are banning bad April fools posts too as I’m sure that someone must have tried something by now

I hate AI, so no complaints from me. Just curious though, does it pose a security risk or something?

As an example, I'm pretty sure the photo someone posted after the Furman game with a bear stepping on a Furman Paladin was AI generated. Just curious what harm something like that does.

I can't define what's objectionable, but I know it when I see it.

AI data centers are already destroying communities and it only projects to get worse. Needs to be banned at the federal level.

Most I've seen here are generated outside the US, mostly from Asia. There's not much the federal government can do other than going after sites that freely allow AI generated content.

Drive around where I live and you'll see plenty of signage stating "No AI data centers here!" So I get it. Agree completely about it needing to be banned. Was just curious if there was more to this that I was missing

Thank you for this. The AI images in particular make me want to puke but all the slop needs to go. Currently dealing with some AI nonsense at work so seeing this made me smile.

I get that a lot of AI-generated content is and cringeworthy, but so is banning all content purely on the grounds of how it was created.

If you're going to advocate for people using their brains, maybe you should start with using yours.

I'll confess I used AI to generate a sepia tone image of the photo of Mullins facing the basket with his arms up after "the shot". I could have done the same thing with an older image editing tool; it was just easier to do with AI. It was still my idea, and a lot of posters liked it, so where's the problem?
