I'm an LA Dodger fan and this is like our entire existence. They show up late, but they make up for it by leaving early

It is the same problem the Hartford Yardgoats have really. Minor league team that people come to enjoy a night out. But watching a bunch of pros who haven’t totally developed yet isn’t the same as watching an NBA team or watching a bunch of college kids who are playing for something other than a paycheck. Somebody wants to leave early, they leave early. You have the wrong perspective. Very 20th Century with the root for our boys shtick. I bet almost every guy on that team would switch uniforms at halftime if it was allowed by the rules and the opponent offered them an extra thousand bucks. Can everyone stop leaving early? These boys work so hard and god forbid people stay to applaud them. You aren’t beating the traffic and getting home earlier. It’s so annoying and disrespectful to the athletes. Stay in your seats and cheer these boys on for their accomplishments.
Couldn't agree more. The rich fans are at a social night. Don't wanna tell anyone how to fan. But its pretty sad watching them close to the court. Barely clap. Most dont even know the game. It's like uconn football games. Duke 3rd and 7 at there 20 and crickets. But 3rd and goal from the 1 and incredibly loud. Better chance not scoring from 80 yards then 1 yard out. But hey they can spend their money how they want. We got mr marijuana guy who's there just to advertise his business. Always gotta look for the cameras to smile and prop up the garbage dispensary they own or work for. What really annoys me is the fact that our fans are not in their seats at the start of the game. You look at a Duke game or a Kansas game and they have 100% attendance in their seats at the start of the game. You have a top five matchup of Uconn versus Arizona at Gamble, and at the start of the game the lower bowl has something like 80% attendance, as the remaining 15% start trickling in the first 5 minutes of the game, with 5% not even showing up. Selling tickets exclusively to season ticket holders/ donors and then letting them resell on secondary marketplaces as a markup doesn't help the casual fan going to the game. What I've been noticing is the Casual fans tend to get there early and stay late, versus the 'rich' fans who show up late and leave early.
Glad you are looking out for our wonderful Casual Fans. What really annoys me is the fact that our fans are not in their seats at the start of the game. This seems to be a problem for a lot of colleges. What really annoys me is the fact that our fans are not in their seats at the start of the game. The Fine Fettle shirts behind the announcers is ridiculous, not sure if that has been talked about here but glad you did mention it. If you are going to use those seats to advertise a dispensary can you at least make the prices decent? God knows we all drive to Northampton for it.Couldn't agree more. Hurley's winning percentage is actually higher in Hartford versus Storrs.Bottom line is hartford is not a true homecourt! They should have blown the building up!!
There's actually more to do in Hartford than anywhere else in the state.Somewhere to be? In Hartford?
Puleeez.
Hey, are you dissing Barkhamsted? There's actually more to do in Hartford than anywhere else in the state.
Lol, no I love trees and water!!!Hey, are you dissing Barkhamsted?
This is kind of where I am. The thing that cracks me up is that the leaving early crowd actually gets stuck in traffic from the leaving early crowd. If you stayed at the end of the game and then hang around a little bit, getting out is actually easier. I'd rather stay in the arena and bullshit a little bit than sit in traffic. The folks who walked out are the same folks that helped sellout the joint. You take the good with the bad.
The options are, only play in front of the hardcore. They will stay to the end but there will be empty seats. Or enjoy a full stadium with many bandwagon fans in the crowd that will leave when the game is decided (or earlier). As the Eagles told us in "Lyin' Eyes," every point of refuge has its price. I would prefer to have a sell out.
Remember back when season tix went on sale and everybody complained here how many lower bowl seats are gone right from the start. Well here you go. Corporate seats that may or may not be filled during the games by casual fans. But the school got their $$$ so it's okay. 🙄This seems to be a problem for a lot of colleges.
Another take on Casual Fans.Remember back when season tix went on sale and everybody complained here how many lower bowl seats are gone right from the start. Well here you go. Corporate seats that may or may not be filled during the games by casual fans. But the school got their $$$ so it's okay. 🙄
Discounting the Covid year with no fans, Hurley has lost 8 games in Hartford and 7 in Storrs if my math is correct. And if you believe the XL-only season ticket holders, the SOS is much easier in Hartford. Creighton is usually in Storrs. Butler is always in Hartford. DePaul is almost always in Hartford.Hurley's winning percentage is actually higher in Hartford versus Storrs.
The google/ai machine shows it as .714 at Gampel and .824 in Hartford. I don't think the SOS is a factor.Discounting the Covid year with no fans, Hurley has lost 8 games in Hartford and 7 in Storrs if my math is correct. It is, pretty universally you tend to look at a population of fans who are going and say 1/2 are pretty prompt and the other 1/2 is blissfully unaware of traffic or whatnot and make it when they can. Of that 1/2 of the population maybe 1/3 make it there on time. This seems to be a problem for a lot of colleges.
hey, IMO we're lucky that has a fanbase that cares and shows up at all. most schools don't have that.It is, pretty universally you tend to look at a population of fans who are going and say 1/2 are pretty prompt and the other 1/2 is blissfully unaware of traffic or whatnot and make it when they can. Dunno why, but some just never check the weather or traffic or news...I don't think they mix well with those who do.
Well we all know Google can't be wrong. I took my data straight from the UConn Athletics website. During Hurley era, 86% win % at Gampel including games with no fans (89% without). 82% win % in Hartford. 71.4% is Hurley's overall record (home and away) at UConn (175 - 70) according to sports-reference.The google/ai machine shows it as .714 at Gampel and .824 in Hartford. Lol - not sure where the Google got the .714...Well we all know Google can't be wrong. I took my data straight from the UConn Athletics website. That’s what we do, but I hate the fan police we seem to have. Football can be much worse when we’re doing well, we had people near our season ticket area during the RE1 era who’d yell at people leaving early. This is kind of where I am.
