Stop. Leaving. Early.

Our fans are amazing, as is our team, as is our program

We fill GP, PBA, MSG & TD Garden. We're loud and we're proud

We're too good, and I'm having too much fun

Keeping it real here
Never said the fans nor the team nor the program wasn’t amazing. Just simply asking people to stay in their seats to support our amazing athletes. Also keeping it real here.

I just now bought a Seat Geek ticket to the women's game vs Marquette Wednesday at PBA, for $9.66 (not a typo). Section 200, Row 8, a good upper-level seat. I'll scout out the no-shows and then move down to one of many empty seats in the lower bowl either between periods 1 and 2, or at halftime (easier then, with more traffic up and down the aisles to distract ushers from verifying tickets.) I did this at the Ohio State game (same price) and spent the entire second half right behind Geno, eight rows up.

FYI...............easier to do if you are alone.

I never leave games early, but I'm sure the late starts are tough for a lot of people. I finally got home at 11:30 last night. Not a huge problem for me because I'm usually up that late, but for a lot of people that's kind of rough.

I'm sure the 8:30 start at Gampel on Tuesday will be the same way.
Hope you aren’t planning to go to Gampel Tuesday. Game is in Hartford.

Every time I’m at a game and people start filing out with 5 minutes left, I have the impulse to think it’s lame, but then I remember life is life and people have things to do and places to be and sleep to get. I always stay till the end because I’m obsessed with watching the game I came to watch, but a lot of people are just enjoying a night out. I definitely get the perspective of Smacho though.

Losers. It’s that simple. There’s no way they have somewhere to be. Group of 4 in front me grabbed their coats at the under 4 TO. I hope they are reading this.
I don’t leave early unless it’s 90-40 or some such but if people want to arrive late or leave early they certainly can. At the under 4 TO it was close but Texas wasn’t going to win. It was an equally ugly game but we had better players so low risk of missing anything. It used to bother me but I’ve learned that 40% of our “fans” are there to see and be seen and brag to their friends about it. Once that’s been accomplished they don’t care about the actual game.

Bottom line is hartford is not a true homecourt! They should have blown the building up!!
When was the last loss there?

January 15, 2023

Isn't their record in Hartford slightly better than at Gampel?

I don't know, sounds like a true home court to me.

.-.
They show up late, but they make up for it by leaving early
Yeah, but on the other hand, going to see a UConn is like the best 18 minutes they have during the day.

He’s a doesn’t look like a home court on his TV kinda guy.

They spent the money to buy tickets and support the school, and came to the game, but the fan police are never happy.

Can everyone stop leaving early? These boys work so hard and god forbid people stay to applaud them. You aren’t beating the traffic and getting home earlier. It’s so annoying and disrespectful to the athletes. Stay in your seats and cheer these boys on for their accomplishments.
This is going to be a very unpopular take but, Disrespectful? Their hard work is for the six figures+ the’yre getting paid to play 30 basketball games a year, they’ll be fine. People paid for a ticket, they’re allowed to leave after the first whistle if they please.

Somewhere to be? In Hartford?

Puleeez.

It is the same problem the Hartford Yardgoats have really. Minor league team that people come to enjoy a night out. But watching a bunch of pros who haven’t totally developed yet isn’t the same as watching an NBA team or watching a bunch of college kids who are playing for something other than a paycheck. Somebody wants to leave early, they leave early. You have the wrong perspective. Very 20th Century with the root for our boys shtick. I bet almost every guy on that team would switch uniforms at halftime if it was allowed by the rules and the opponent offered them an extra thousand bucks.

What really annoys me is the fact that our fans are not in their seats at the start of the game. You look at a Duke game or a Kansas game and they have 100% attendance in their seats at the start of the game. You have a top five matchup of Uconn versus Arizona at Gamble, and at the start of the game the lower bowl has something like 80% attendance, as the remaining 15% start trickling in the first 5 minutes of the game, with 5% not even showing up. Selling tickets exclusively to season ticket holders/ donors and then letting them resell on secondary marketplaces as a markup doesn't help the casual fan going to the game. What I've been noticing is the Casual fans tend to get there early and stay late, versus the 'rich' fans who show up late and leave early.
Couldn't agree more. The rich fans are at a social night. Don't wanna tell anyone how to fan. But its pretty sad watching them close to the court. Barely clap. Most dont even know the game. It's like uconn football games. Duke 3rd and 7 at there 20 and crickets. But 3rd and goal from the 1 and incredibly loud. Better chance not scoring from 80 yards then 1 yard out. But hey they can spend their money how they want. We got mr marijuana guy who's there just to advertise his business. Always gotta look for the cameras to smile and prop up the garbage dispensary they own or work for.

Glad you are looking out for our wonderful Casual Fans.

This seems to be a problem for a lot of colleges.

The Fine Fettle shirts behind the announcers is ridiculous, not sure if that has been talked about here but glad you did mention it. If you are going to use those seats to advertise a dispensary can you at least make the prices decent? God knows we all drive to Northampton for it.

The folks who walked out are the same folks that helped sellout the joint. You take the good with the bad.

The options are, only play in front of the hardcore. They will stay to the end but there will be empty seats. Or enjoy a full stadium with many bandwagon fans in the crowd that will leave when the game is decided (or earlier). As the Eagles told us in "Lyin' Eyes," every point of refuge has its price. I would prefer to have a sell out.

This is kind of where I am. The thing that cracks me up is that the leaving early crowd actually gets stuck in traffic from the leaving early crowd. If you stayed at the end of the game and then hang around a little bit, getting out is actually easier. I'd rather stay in the arena and bullshit a little bit than sit in traffic.

Remember back when season tix went on sale and everybody complained here how many lower bowl seats are gone right from the start. Well here you go. Corporate seats that may or may not be filled during the games by casual fans. But the school got their $$$ so it's okay. 🙄

Another take on Casual Fans.

Hurley's winning percentage is actually higher in Hartford versus Storrs.
Discounting the Covid year with no fans, Hurley has lost 8 games in Hartford and 7 in Storrs if my math is correct. And if you believe the XL-only season ticket holders, the SOS is much easier in Hartford. Creighton is usually in Storrs. Butler is always in Hartford. DePaul is almost always in Hartford.
