Can everyone stop leaving early? These boys work so hard and god forbid people stay to applaud them. You aren’t beating the traffic and getting home earlier. It’s so annoying and disrespectful to the athletes. Stay in your seats and cheer these boys on for their accomplishments.

What. Are. You. Talking. About.

What really annoys me is the fact that our fans are not in their seats at the start of the game. You look at a Duke game or a Kansas game and they have 100% attendance in their seats at the start of the game. You have a top five matchup of Uconn versus Arizona at Gamble, and at the start of the game the lower bowl has something like 80% attendance, as the remaining 15% start trickling in the first 5 minutes of the game, with 5% not even showing up. Selling tickets exclusively to season ticket holders/ donors and then letting them resell on secondary marketplaces as a markup doesn't help the casual fan going to the game. What I've been noticing is the Casual fans tend to get there early and stay late, versus the 'rich' fans who show up late and leave early.

Absolutely correct here. I can afford to go to a couple games a year and I get there for warmups. I’m seated when the clock is just under an hour. I want to experience everything I can. But I don’t think casual is the word. I live and breathe UConn year round. I feel like a fair amount of us on here are that fan. We aren’t texting or chatting during the game. We hold our bowels in until halftime. Even at home we dont miss a minute. We dont want to miss anything.

The season ticket holders seem to be spoiled. Enough to not consider the impact of their absences during the game. UConn wants their presence not just their pockets. They shouldn’t be selling their tickets. I think if they can’t go they should have to notify UConn so they can sell that games ticket at face value. There is so much demand for these tickets and we should look like a sold out crowd, not just being sold out.

I can’t help but think these are the fans that come to this board after a win to dissect all the negatives from the game so the rest of us just stop looking at postgame threads to avoid the “what is wrong with these people” thoughts and frustration.

Get ready for all of the above ten times worse on Tuesday. 8:30 tip on a Tuesday night against a not so sexy opponent.

A lot of people left well before the outcome was decided, even before the under 4 media timeout, and missed the entire Ball 3/block/Alex 3 sequence. Of the 15,000+ that were there, I’d say half had no interest in the game itself. More interested in the Dance-cam, finding their friends and getting in line for overpriced beverages. ‘Ooh, I have a cute UConn shirt I can wear!’ Lol. I’m annoyed because my seats are near an aisle and the number of people up and down the stairs blocking my view all game long is kind of sad.

It’s not my way to way to leave early but the ticket holders are paying good money and the athletes are getting paid good money.
It’s not the holiday concert at the elementary school and I’m leaving after my kid performs.

A little off the thread topic, but can we talk about the "renovations" at XL? I sat behind the hoop about 20 rows up last night.

1) The scoreboard doesn't allow you to see a players box score. You can only see their number and pts before the rest wraps around to the other side.
2) I couldn't see any FG%, FT% or 3PT% anywhere and when I tried to get the box score online, the Wifi was super slow.
3) It was clear concessions wasn't ready for a crowd that size and getting around the halls at halftime and end of game was a nightmare.

Same ol' XL for me.....not sure where all that money went.

All went to amenities for the VIP areas.

They put lipstick on a pig. Everything you said is true. The bar and sportsbook on either end make it impossible to get from one side of the arena to the other. The new seats in the lower bowl are basically the same as the old ones. Not a dime spent on restrooms except for maybe new flooring to pee on.

They spent a fortune on the bunker seats, "loge" seats, and premium club which are not relevant to 97% of the fans.

At least it doesn’t take you 20 minutes to get inside the bathroom.

I have been a season ticket holder for many years and I am frantic about getting to my seat before the game starts. And I stay and sing the fight song at the end. Every game.

I appreciate your loyalty but please stop with the class warfare BS. There is no evidence to support 95% of your presumptions.

Might be a CT thing, perhaps. My grandfather used to leave early to beat the traffic no matter where we were. He could drive across the entire state to get there - usually races - and leave before it was over. It was nuts.

I think it's a generational thing. I think if their phones are losing charge, the younger generations panic and need to run to the nearest charger. Look around, they spend more time looking at their phones than the court.

You mean they didn't consult with you? They can't expand the concourses without expanding the exterior footprint, and that wasn't part of the renovations. The improvements were mostly to mechanicals and premium seating to bring the arena up to current standards and allow it to be more competitive with other venues.

Like Roseann Roseannaddanna used to say, it's always something!

I don't have to be an engineer to think every fan should be able to see the base level stats during a game. Do I?

And like the poster above said, the bars at either end create a log jam. It's not about increasing the footprint, it's about managing traffic flow. But if you just want to be sarcastic, have at it.
